The ms Ryndam off the Alaskan coast

With a Dutch worldwide exploration theme, the decor of the ms Ryndam features art and artifacts from the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries. Guests aboard this spacious ship encounter elegance at every turn - from a string quartet serenade in the splendid Rotterdam Dining Room to the two-deck Vermeer Show Lounge. At the heart of the ms Ryndam a three-story atrium features a monumental fountain created by sculptor Gilbert Lebigre in Pietrasanta, Italy. And with a gracious and unobtrusive crew, the superior service that is signature Holland America Line is never far away.

Like her sister ships, the ms Ryndam is designed to provide more space for fewer guests than other ships in her class (149 of her staterooms feature private verandahs). The ms Ryndam completed all Signature of Excellence enhancements to public rooms and staterooms in Spring 2005.

Inside Passage, British Columbia
Stretching between Vancouver, British Columbia and Juneau, Alaska, the Inside Passage is an intercoastal waterway consisting of thousands of islands, coves and bays, and is renowned for wildlife including eagles, porpoises and killer whales.

Juneau, Alaska
Surrounded by dark-blue waters, deep-green forests and majestic mountains, Juneau is one of America’s most beautiful state capitals. Explore Juneau’s gold mining past, fly over Mendenhall Glacier or spend a pleasant day exploring curio shops and art galleries.

Skagway, Alaska
In 1896 gold was discovered in the Klondike and Skagway instantly became a boom town. Today, Skagway has preserved more than 100 buildings from the gold rush era and serves as a fascinating link to Alaska’s history.

Glacier Bay, Alaska
How does it feel when a monumental chunk of ice splits off a glacier and crashes into the sea? The sound is like thunder, and the impact shoots water hundreds of feet into the air. You hold your breath as you catch the moment on film. And then it happens again...

Marvel at nature’s unrelenting power in Glacier Bay National Park, with more actively calving tidewater glaciers than anywhere else on earth.

Ketchikan, Alaska
Founded as a fishing camp, Ketchikan still looks and feels like a 19th century frontier town, much of which is built over the water and supported by piles.
