Eastbound
Day 1 Vancouver Arrival
Arrive in Vancouver and spend time exploring this scenic city on your own. Overnight in Vancouver.
Day 2 Vancouver Sightseeing
Today embark on a five-hour sightseeing tour of Vancouver. Highlights include Canada Place, Robson Street, sports venues, Chinatown, historic Gastown and lovely Granville Island. There will be a stop in Stanley Park en route to Cleveland Dam and the 450-foot long Capilano Suspension Bridge stretched over a spectacular canyon to the Treetops Adventure observation structure. Overnight in Vancouver.
Day 3 Vancouver to Kamloops
Travel onboard the Rocky Mountaineer from Vancouver to Kamloops. Highlights include the rushing waters of Hell's Gate in the Fraser Canyon and the steep slopes and rock sheds along the Thompson River. Overnight in Kamloops. (B, L)
Day 4 Kamloops to Banff
Your journey continues eastwards to the mighty Canadian Rockies and the province of Alberta. Highlights include Craigellachie, where the last spike of the Canadian Pacific Railway was driven, Rogers Pass, the Kicking Horse Canyon, the Spiral Tunnels and the glaciers and snow-capped peaks of the Canadian Rockies. Overnight in Banff. (B, L)
Day 5 Banff Sightseeing
Today embark on a sightseeing tour of Banff. Highlights include visits to Bow Falls, the Banff Gondola (admission included), Lake Minnewanka, Surprise Corner and the Hoodoos. The rest of the day is free. Overnight in Banff.
Day 6 Banff to Lake Louise
Today explore the natural wonders of Lake Louise and Yoho National Park. Journey along the Bow Valley Parkway to Johnston Canyon, where there will be time for a walk along the canyon. Afterwards, learn about Castle Mountain while passing it majestic peaks. At Lake Louise, the "Jewel of the Canadian Rockies," you'll have time to stroll the shores and photograph the famous Victoria Glacier. This afternoon see the incredibly blue Moraine Lake before crossing the Great Divide for a stop at the Spiral Tunnels viewpoint, where three lines of railway are laid at different elevations to cross the Kicking Horse River on four bridges. Marvel at Emerald Lake and wander the trails at Takakkaw Falls, the second highest waterfall in Canada. Your tour ends in Lake Louise this afternoon, where the remainder of the afternoon is at your leisure. Overnight in Lake Louise.
Day 7 Lake Louise to Jasper
Tour Banff and Jasper National Parks via the Icefields Parkway. Highlights include Bow Lake, the Columbia Icefield and Athabasca Falls. Upon arrival at the Columbia Icefield you will take a ride on an Ice Explorer to the middle of the Athabasca Glacier. Time will be available for lunch (not included). Arrive in Jasper late this afternoon. Overnight in Jasper.
Day 8 Jasper to Quesnel
Travel onboard the Rocky Mountaineer from Jasper to the rural town of Quesnel. Highlights include the Rocky Mountain Trench, Mount Robson, the highest peak in the Canadian Rockies, Yellowhead Pass, Moose Lake and the Fraser River. Overnight in Quesnel. (B, L)
Day 9 Quesnel to Whistler
Your journey continues south today through breathtaking and varied scenery to Whistler. Highlights include sweeping views of the Fraser Canyon, the crossing of Deep Creek Bridge, one of the highest railway bridges in the world, and the shorelines of glacial-fed Seton Lake and Anderson Lake. Overnight in Whistler. (B, L)
Day 10 Whistler
Enjoy the day exploring this exciting four-season resort on your own. Walk through the charming village, take a ride on the PEAK 2 PEAK Gondola (not included) or soar from tree to tree on a zipline adventure (not included). Overnight in Whistler.
Day 11 Whistler to Vancouver
The morning is free to explore Whistler Village at your leisure. This afternoon return to Vancouver on the Rocky Mountaineer through the stunning scenery of the Sea to Sky Corridor. Highlights include the Cheakamus Canyon, the dome peak of Mount Garibaldi, Brandywine Falls and breathtaking views of Howe Sound and the Coast Mountains. On arrival at the North Vancouver train platform, you will be transferred to your accommodation in downtown Vancouver. Overnight in Vancouver.
Day 12 Vancouver
Your Grand Rail Circle vacation ends with check-out from your Vancouver hotel.
