Day 1 - Arrive Quebec City
Quebec City is an authentic piece of Europe. Old Quebec abounds with architectural treasures, and the Quartier Petit Champlain is right out of a fairy tale. The city invites you to stroll the streets and visit the many shops and boutiques, just steps away from the Fairmont Chateau Frontenac.

Day 2 - Quebec City/VIA Rail overnight sleeper train to Halifax
Your morning is at leisure to relax and enjoy the Fairmont Chateau Frontenac. This afternoon discover Quebec City’s historic past with a sightseeing tour that visits the Plaines of Abraham, the Grand-Allee, the Parliament building, the old Military Drill Hall, The Place d’Armes, the Norte Dame de Quebec Basilica and Cathedral, City Hall, the fortifications, St. John Street and Place Royal. Your train departs late this evening. We have arranged for you to report to the Quebec City rail station. Here the VIA Rail staff will check your baggage and provide transportation to your departure point. Once onboard, the staff will see you comfortably settled into your bedroom. As you are traveling in Easterly Class, you have access to the domed viewing car and the services of a Learning Coordinator, who will tell you of the regions history and keep you advised of dining times for included meals. As you travel, you will see beautiful ocean hues, emerald green rolling hills and scintillating sea sprays. Your fare includes access to the lounges and the dome car.

Day 3 - Arrive Halifax
You are a short taxi ride from your hotel. Our choice of the Delta Halifax Hotel puts you in Halifax’s “Historic Properties” section. Just outside your door are shops and sightseeing attractions.

Day 4 - Excursion to Peggy’s Cove OR Lunenburg
Today we have arranged a tour to visit one of the Maritimes sightseeing treasures. Depending on the day of week you are in Halifax will depend in the tour you will take. You may be joining your guide for a visit to Peggy’s Cove, Canada’s most photographed fishing village. Spend the afternoon with your kilted guide and learn of Peggy’s Cove’s colorful characters and history! Enjoy the outstanding views of Nova Scotia’s unique coastline, then explore the rocks, visit the gift shops and wander through this artist’s and explorer’s paradise. You can even mail a postcard from the only lighthouse in North America with a post office within it! Or join a kilted guide in “New Scotland” for an enchanting tour of Lunenburg and Mahone Bay. Tales of rum running, ship building and the legend of Oak Island will entertain you on your way to Lunenburg, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Lunenburg is home to Nova Scotia’s largest fishing fleet, Lunenburg Academy, extraordinary architecture, supreme shops and more. While there, take a walking tour of the town with a local historian or visit the Fisheries Museum. From Lunenburg, continue with a drive to Mahone Bay, famous for its churches along the shore and its picturesque beauty. There will be plenty of time for exploring these remarkable seaside towns.

Day 5 - Halifax to Cape Breton
Your rental car will be available for pick up today. Today as you travel to beautiful Cape Breton, the wind may carry a Celtic tune. Plan a stop at the Alexander Graham Bell Park in Baddeck. Watch for bald eagles along the Bras d’Or Lakes.

Day 6 - Cape Breton at Leisure
The Cabot Trail needs a full day. Enjoy breathtaking seascapes and experience the warmth and pride of these highland people.

Day 7 - Cape Breton to Prince Edward Island
Today you are off to the Emerald Isle, home to Anne of Green Gables as well as some of the most charming people in the world. As you have the benefit of frequent ferry service between Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island, you can relax and enjoy the sights.

Day 8 - Prince Edward Island at Leisure
Prince Edward Island has wonderful beaches. The north shore is warmed by the water of the Gulf of St. Lawrence and boasts 60-foot dunes. The south shore has red sand and calm waters, perfect for swimming or paddling. The island is also the birthplace of the Confederation and visitors can enjoy Province House, the site of the first discussions leading to the formation of Canada.

Day 9 - Prince Edward Island to Halifax
Once again, we suggest you review your Nova Scotia travel information and select your return routing to Halifax, as you have a complete day to tour and explore.
