Day 2 - VIA Rail Vancouver to Jasper
This morning a city sightseeing tour has been arranged. There is much to see as the city prepares for the 2010 winter games. Your hop on/off trolley tour gives you a wonderful overview of Vancouver and allows you to make stops along the way at your leisure. Visit Gastown, a lovely 19th century restoration offering a selection of excellent restaurants and shops. Other places to visit while in Vancouver are Stanley Park, the Aquarium, Granville Island, the Capilano Suspension Bridge, Grouse Mountain, colorful Chinatown, BC Place, the Sunken Gardens of Queen Elizabeth Park and the Bloedel Conservatory.

This evening starts you on the first of your scenic rail trips. You will leave the sparkling Pacific Ocean as you travel through the British Columbia’s fertile fields. A delicious dinner, the fun of sleeping on the train and glorious scenery is but hours away. Nothing shows you Canada like a trip on the train. Your bedroom is VIA Rail’s “top of the line” accommodation. Your sitting room by day, converts to upper and lower berths as night. Once aboard the train, the staff will see you settled into your room. As a Sleeper Touring Class passenger, your fare includes all meals, use of any of the lounges and access to the skyline car for spectacular viewing.

Day 3 - Enroute to Jasper
You will wake this morning to the beauty of the Canadian Rockies, as you continue your rail journey to Jasper. Breakfast and lunch are included prior to your arrival in Jasper. Arrangements have been made to provide a transfer from the rail station to the lovely Sawridge Inn. The reminder of the day is yours to explore Jasper.

Day 4 - Jasper (Discover Jasper Tour)*
Jasper is set amid some of the most rugged peaks in the Rockies. Today your “Discover Jasper” tour takes you to Old Fort Point, Medicine Lake and Maligne Canyon. This narrow gorge with limestone walls is the deepest canyon in Jasper National Park. Your guide will share geology of this fascinating area.
Overnight - Sawridge Inn

Day 5 - Jasper to Prince George (Lunch & Dinner on the Train)
Your morning is at leisure to enjoy and explore Jasper. A transfer has been arranged for you from the hotel to the rail station. The wilderness beauty of Jasper is but a snapshot of all that is in store for you today as you travel from Jasper to Prince George on VIA Rail in Touring Class. The train follows the Skeena River Valley, traveling through country little changed by man. Your route takes you past Mount Robson, the highest peak in the Canadian Rockies, down the western slope of the range with its giant cedars and hemlocks, and across British Columbia’s interior plateau, en route to the Skeena River Valley. The train arrives into Prince George at 7PM; the Coast Inn of the North is a short taxi ride from the station.
Overnight - Coast Inn of the North

Day 6 - Prince George to Prince Rupert (Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner on the Train)
An early morning is in order. The Skeena departs at 7:45AM. The rail station is a short taxi ride from your hotel. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served aboard the train, so settle back to enjoy another day of dramatically beautiful scenery. Highlights of your routing include Fraser Lake, the meeting of the Telkwa and Bulkey Rivers and Kathlyn Glacier and Twin Falls – one of the best views of a glacier from a passenger train in Canada. Then on to the river for which the train was named, the might Skeena River, taking you past snow-covered mountain peaks, graveled flood plains and lush river beds to the Pacific Ocean Tidal Zone, where the river widens to meet the ocean. When you arrive, take a taxi to your hotel.
Overnight - Crest Hotel-Harbor View Room

Day 7 - Prince Rupert at Leisure
After two days on the train, you will be ready to be out and about in Prince Rupert. The city is small, so getting around is easy. This afternoon you have an hour and a half tour, showing you to the sites of Prince Rupert’s waterfront from boat side. During the voyage, there is a good possibility of sighting porpoise, harbor seals and eagles. The Crest Hotel is just delightful, built right at the water’s edge. It offers an array of ocean views. Cow Bay is a must see with great bovine decorating ideas at every turn. Fish lovers will find that the Halibut is so fresh and delicious; you will want it for every meal. Try the fish and chips at the Peg Leg Café for lunch. Overnight - Crest Hotel-Harbor View Room

Day 8 - Prince Rupert Home
