This independent vacation is designed for anyone who loves to travel by train.
Day 1 Vancouver
After arriving at your hotel, enjoy the beaches, parks, hiking, shopping or theatre that are available within the harbour area.
Day 2-3 Vancouver to Jasper
Travel on Canada's national train into the great Rocky Mountains on cars restored to their original art-deco style. Enjoy the traditional romance of onboard accommodations and dining with outstanding modern services. Enjoy elegantly designed etched glass and original Canadian artwork throughout and learn about Canada's history through informative plaques, and the naming of cars after prominent Canadians. Arriving in Jasper, you have plenty of time to explore this historic mountain town.
Day 4 Jasper
A 'Discover Jasper' sightseeing excursion introduces you to many of the area's scenic highlights. Explore the downtown shops and activities at your leisure.
Day 5-6 Jasper to Toronto
Over the next few days experience the diversity of Canada's landscapes and history. The 'Canadian' is the most prestigious of VIA's routes which travels through the immense space of the Prairies into the stark beauty of the Canadian Shield. Relax with a book, join in a daily activity, meet new people at dinner, or learn about Canada's history-there's plenty to do if you choose too! Train attendants show the friendly nature of the Canadian way.
Day 7-8 Toronto
Our rail adventure continues through the scenic forest and lake country of Northern Ontario, home of the Great Lakes. The next day, as you arrive in Toronto after dinner, settle into a hotel of your choice. In the morning, you are at leisure to explore this metropolis.
