Day 1 - International Flight to Budapest
Embark on your transatlantic flight to Budapest from your U.S. gateway. (International flight not included)
Day 2 - Budapest, Hungary
Üdvözöljük—welcome! Your Local Host is on hand to help you make the most of your time in the “Paris of the East.”
Day 3 - Budapest
Morning guided sightseeing and orientation includes Matthias Coronation Church and impressive Heroes' Square with the Millennium Monument, built in 1896, at its center. Behind the monument is a semicircular colonnade with statues of famous men who made their marks on Hungary. Statues atop the colonnades symbolize Labor & Wealth, Knowledge & Glory, War, and Peace. Also take a drive up to Fishermen's Bastion for magnificent panoramas of Buda and Pest on either side of the Danube River.
Day 4 - Budapest
Your Local Host will have recommendations for your day in the capital of Hungary, such as a guided visit to the magnificent Parliament building, an excursion to Queen Sisi's summer residence in Gödölló, or the best places to try spicy Hungarian goulash.
Day 5 - Budapest-Vienna, Austria
This morning, journey by high-speed train (first-class), with early afternoon arrival in Vienna.
Day 6 - Vienna
During your morning guided sightseeing and orientation, visit splendid Schonbrunn Palace, former summer residence of the Habsburg Dynasty. Drive by Prater park with its giant Ferris wheel and see the famous landmarks along the Ringstrasse, including Heldenplatz with nearby Hofburg Palace, the National Theater, the State Opera House, Parliament, City Hall, renowned museums, and the Strauss Monument—a gilded tribute to the great composer.
Day 7 - Vienna
Your Local Host has many ideas for your day in the “City of Music.” You may want to join an excursion to the Danube Valley, which includes Melk's Benedictine Abbey; take in a Strauss concert after a Viennese dinner; visit a traditional Heurigen wine tavern; or explore the Sigmund Freud Museum.
Day 8 - Vienna-Prague, Czech Republic
Travel by high-speed train (first-class) this morning, with mid-afternoon arrival in Prague.
Day 9 - Prague
Morning guided sightseeing and orientation includes views of 1,000-year-old Hradcany Castle and a walk in the Castle Courtyard. See Staromestke Square, which dates back to the 12th century and started life as the central marketplace for the city. It is surrounded by historic buildings, beautiful churches, and the Astronomical Clock on the Old Town Hall Tower. Also admire Prague's famous Charles Bridge, a masterpiece of engineering and one of the oldest stone bridges in Europe.
Day 10 - Prague
Full day at leisure to explore the “Golden City”—your Local Host will have suggestions for you, like a dinner cruise along the Vltava River, the Krizik Fountain water and light show, or where to enjoy a concert.
Day 11 - Prague-Berlin, Germany
This morning, journey by high-speed train (first-class), with late-afternoon arrival in Berlin.
Day 12 - Berlin
Morning guided sightseeing and orientation includes the restored Reichstag, Charlottenburg Palace, remains of the Berlin Wall that once divided the city, Checkpoint Charlie, and Museum Island. Also see the Siegessäule (Victory Column) and the famous Ku'damm shopping area. Time for a picture stop at the Holocaust Memorial, and Brandenburg Gate, a classical 12-column gateway that has stood roughly at the center of Berlin since its completion in 1791, originally constructed as a grand entrance to Unter den Linden boulevard leading to the palace of the Prussian monarchs.
Day 13 - Berlin
Today, maybe visit the popular zoo and aquarium, catch the hop-on/hop-off bus, discover Jewish Berlin, or see the Pergamon Museum. Your Local Host can help you plan your day.
Day 14 - Berlin
Your vacation ends with breakfast this morning.

Was a very pleasant and fascinating tour through Budapest, Vienna, Prague and Berlin. Train was quick and comfortable and the Hotels were top notch. The guides were extremely knowledgeable and I learned a lot about each cities history and culture. I need to think of what other cities I want to visit for my next Railway Vacation!!!
