Day 1 – International Flight to Rome
Your European adventure begins with your trans-Atlantic flight from your U.S. gateway to Rome. (International flight not included in tour price)
Day 2 – Rome, Italy
Welcome to Rome, "The Eternal City." This evening, join your fellow travelers for a welcome dinner featuring local delicacies and wines. Overnight Rome. (D)
Day 3 – Rome Sightseeing
A locally guided tour of classical Rome features such sights as the Piazza Venezia, Roman Forum, Circus Maximus, the Colosseum and the Arch of Constantine. This afternoon you may choose an optional tour of the magnificent treasures of the Vatican Museums and St. Peter's Basilica. Overnight Rome. (B)
Day 4 – Orvieto / Florence
Depart Rome and travel to the Etruscan hill town of Orvieto, known for its white wine and Gothic cathedral housing a Signorelli fresco. After visiting the cathedral, enjoy some leisure time for lunch and independent discovery of this magnificent town. Continue to the Tuscan capital of Florence where you will spend the next two nights. Day 5 – Florence Sightseeing
In Florence, the “Cradle of the Italian Renaissance,” visit the world-famous Academy Gallery to see Michelangelo’s incredible statue of David. During your cultural tour of Florence view the Cathedral of Santa Maria Del Fiore, the Palazzo Vecchio and the Church of Santa Croce, burial place of Michelangelo, Galileo and Machiavelli. Complete your morning with an informative explanation of Florentine gold and its fascinating techniques at a local gold shop. Day 6 – Turin
Start the day with an introduction to the production of balsamic vinegar as you tour a local balsamic factory. Depart for the magical city of Turin, known for its contrast of Baroque architecture and modern flair. Your evening is at leisure. Overnight Turin. (B)
Day 7 – Turin Sightseeing
This morning a guided city tour of Turin features such sights as the Chiesa della Gran Madre di Dio, Duomo di San Giovanni, and Palazzo Reale where mythical statues watch over the border between the sacred “white magic” and “black magic” halves of the city. This afternoon, explore all of Turin’s charms independently or you may wish to participate in an optional tour to the wine-growing region of Asti. Overnight Turin. (B)
Day 8 – Monaco / Eze / Nice
Say “arrivederci” to Italy and “bonjour” to France. Travel through the mountains of Italy en route to Monaco, the playground of the rich and famous. A tour highlights the famous Casino of Monte Carlo, 13th-century Prince’s Palace, and the Cathedral of Monaco, where Princess Grace and Prince Rainier are buried. Learn the secrets of perfume making at a famous perfumery in medieval Eze Village, perched high above the coast. Continue to Nice, the capital of the French Riviera, where you will spend the next two nights. (B)
Day 9 – Nice
Embark on a walking tour of the city of Nice. Stroll through the narrow streets amid the cheerful colors of Nice’s old town. Walk along the Promenade des Anglais, where many natives spend their days soaking in the sun. Wander Nice’s bustling streets and sample outdoor cafés, boutiques and museums. This afternoon travel to St. Paul de Vence, situated atop a hill overlooking the beautiful countryside. This walled medieval town is filled with historic buildings, hidden alleyways, fabulous restaurants and many specialty shops. Overnight Nice. (B)
Day 10 – Paris
Travel by train across the French countryside on your way to Paris, the cosmopolitan capital of France. This evening, enjoy dinner at the Paradis Latin*, Paris's oldest cabaret theatre. Enjoy a sumptuous dinner complete with wine, champagne and a delightful cabaret show. Overnight Paris. (B, D)
Day 11 – Paris Sightseeing
The world-famous Arc de Triomphe, Notre Dame Cathedral, Champs-Elysees, Place de la Concorde and the magnificent Place Vendome are some of the amazing landmarks awaiting you on a locally-guided tour of Paris. The remainder of the day is yours to independently explore the city. Overnight Paris. (B)
Day 12 – Paris at Leisure
Today you are free to enjoy the city however you like. Perhaps you will participate in an optional tour of the Louvre Museum, home of the famous Venus de Milo and the Mona Lisa, where you will be expertly guided through this world-renowned attraction.
