Day 1 - Arrive in the City of Light
Welcome to Paris! Arrive in Franceís capital city and enjoy the remainder of the day at your leisure. Overnight Hilton Arc de Triomphe.
Day 2 - Paris Sightseeing
Embark on a sightseeing tour of the city including Notre Dame Cathedral, the Louvre Museum, the commemorative Arc de Triomphe, Madeleine, the Champs Elysees and the Eiffel Tower. After your tour, take time to marvel at the cityís architecture, enjoy a coffee at a sidewalk café or revisit some of the amazing sights you saw earlier today on your city tour. Paris is known for its colorful nightlife including some of the worldís best cabarets. You may wish to take in a show tonight. Overnight Hilton Arc de Triomphe. (B)
Day 3 - TGV to Metz / Metz-Remisch
This morning board the high-speed TGV for the journey to Metz. Upon arrival drive to Remich, located in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, where your river cruise vessel is docked. Before dinner this evening, meet the crew at a welcome reception. Overnight vessel. (B, D)
Day 4 - Trier, Germany
Our first port of call is Trier. This venerable Episcopal city situated on the banks of the Moselle River is the oldest in Germany. See the famous Porta Nigra, the only surviving fortified gate from the original Roman settlement. Admire the beauty and tranquil scenery of the Moselle Valley before continuing your journey along the river. Overnight vessel. (B, L, D)
Day 5 - Bernkastel
In the middle of the Moselle region is the charming wine village of Bernkastel with its well-preserved half-timbered houses surrounding the beautiful marketplace. Wine growers in this area look after Germanyís largest expanse of vineyards, the most celebrated of the vintages being the Bernkasteler Doktor. Before dinner, visit a local wine cellar and taste several of the regionís varietals. Overnight vessel. (B, L, D)
Day 6 - Zell / Cochem
Enjoy a few hours of free time in the charming town of Zell before continuing to Cochem. Visit Reichsburg Castle, which sits atop a conical hill covered in vines. From here the views of the little town and river valley nestled below are splendid. Overnight vessel. (B, L, D)
Day 7 - Rüdesheim / Rhine Gorge
Rüdesheim is a quintessential Rhine Valley wine town. Visit Siegfriedís Mechanical Musical Instrument Museum for a real surprise! After a special treat, there is free time to explore the Drosselgasse and pick up some souvenirs. Downstream from Rüdesheim, the dramatic Rhine Gorge is the most beautiful stretch of river. Pass the legendary Lorelei Rock, where the sweet songs of local beauties lured enchanted sailors to their doom. Overnight vessel. (B, L, D)
Day 8 - Cologne, Germany
Cologne is the capital of the Rhineland and one of Germanyís largest cities. The soaring twin steeples of the magnificent gothic cathedral dominates the river skyline. The Germano-Roman Museum next to the cathedral is a must for history buffs. The Old Town is lined with taverns, cafes, and shops. Try a Kölsch, a favorite local beer, and shop for a bottle of ì4711,î the original eau de cologne. Overnight vessel. (B, L, D)
Day 9 - Amsterdam, Holland
Hollandís capital city is sophisticated, modern and steeped in a rich and fascinating history. The works of famous Dutch masters can be seen in world-renowned museums like the Rijksmuseum. There is no better way to see the city than by canal boat. Cruise through the elegant grachten lined with stately homes dating back to Amsterdamís Golden Age. There is plenty of free time to explore on your own. Overnight vessel. (B, L, D)
Day 10 - Tour Conclusion
Your European rail-river cruise adventure ends after breakfast this morning. (B)
