CHICAGO – June 9, 2014 – Vacations By Rail, the most comprehensive global rail provider in the United States, is offering four new rail/river cruise itineraries to discover the Pacific Northwest and the heartland of America this year. Travelers who want to explore the Columbia River in Oregon are able to depart from Chicago aboard the Empire Builder, which travels over the northern part of the U.S., or from Los Angeles aboard the Coast Starlight up the Pacific Coast. Travelers interested in the Mississippi and its river towns have several new options to explore both the upper and lower portions of the Mississippi River including a New Orleans-style New Year’s Eve cruise followed by a trip on the City of New Orleans train to Chicago.
“A rail/cruise vacation allows travelers to discover America while taking in beautiful vistas on storied train routes and exploring different ports of call during the cruise,” said Todd Powell, co-founder and president of Vacations By Rail. “Many Vacations By Rail customers want an experience that harkens back to a simpler time and as a result we are seeing a greater demand for Rail/ River cruise vacations.”
