Day 1 - Seattle to Glacier National Park by Train
Board the Great Western Limited in Seattle late this afternoon. Your private rail adventure begins with a welcome reception on the train as it makes its way alongside Puget Sound, crossing the Cascades during dinner this evening. Overnight train. (R, D)
Day 2 – Glacier National Park
Arrive in Whitefish this morning and set off on one of Glacier National Park’s famous open-air red Jammer buses for the breathtaking trip over the Going-to-the-Sun Road. Later, settle into your accommodations at the Grouse Mountain Lodge. Built by the Great Northern Railroad, this historic hotel with its Swiss-style charm has been delighting park visitors since 1939. upon arrival, the remainder of the day is at your leisure to enjoy this beautiful setting. Day 3 – Gates of the Mountain Cruise
This morning depart for the Gates of the Mountain Cruise, a two-hour excursion in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains between Helena and Great Falls, Montana. Aboard an open-air boat, you’ll glide past magnificent country complete with towering walls of limestone, bighorn sheep and mountain goats and soaring eagles. Our destination today is the enchanting Fairmont Hot Springs. Nestled between Glacier National Park and Yellowstone, this idyllic setting features a variety of soothing mineral pools (admission included) as well as golf and spa services. Day 4 – Virginia City / Yellowstone National Park
After breakfast, travel to Virginia City, MT, a historic mining town, on the way to Yellowstone National Park. Overnight Lake Yellowstone. (B, L)
Day 5 – Yellowstone Sightseeing
Established in 1872, Yellowstone National Park is America’s first National Park. Today’s sightseeing tour will showcase some of the Park’s most impressive sights including Old Faithful, the Upper and Lower Falls, Hayden Valley, Fountain Paint Pot and the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone. Overnight Lake Yellowstone. (B)
Day 6 – Grand Teton National Park
Today we drive south to spectacular Grand Teton National Park, a landscape rich with jagged mountains, glaciers, pristine lakes and amazing wildlife including bison, moose and antelope. The evening is at your leisure to explore the cowboy town of Jackson. Overnight Antlers Inn. (B)
Day 7 – Jackson Hole to Salt Lake City
Depart Jackson Hole this morning, traveling south to Salt Lake City with a stop en route at the Oregon Trail Historical Center. The remainder of the day is at your leisure to explore the city on your own, perhaps taking time to visit Temple Square. Overnight Little America Hotel. (B, L)
Day 8 – Salt Lake City Sightseeing
This morning is at leisure to sleep in or get an early start to your sightseeing. Late this morning, we’ll embark on a guided sightseeing tour to the city’s popular landmarks. The remainder of the day is at your leisure. Join your tour manager and fellow travelers this evening for a farewell dinner. Overnight Little America Hotel. (B, D)
Day 9 – Tour Conclusion
Your tour concludes after breakfast this morning. Travelers can depart for home by air or train. The California Zephyr offers overnight train service to east Chicago and Midwest points or west to San Francisco. (B)
