The Great American Southern Trail will take you from the city of celebrity and glam to The Alamo City to the Big Apple on this cross-county 17-day journey.

Days 1-2 – Your journey begins in Los Angeles
Welcome to Los Angeles! Enjoy a 2-day sightseeing tour of the “City of Angels.” View the Hollywood sign and the homes of some of Hollywood’s hottest stars. Keep your cameras ready on this exciting tour. Overnight Los Angeles.
Day 3 – Overnight aboard Amtrak
Transfer on your own and board Amtrak for Arizona. Relax and soak in the panoramic views of the countryside as you comfortably ride the rails in your private Roomette sleeping accommodations. Overnight train. (B)
Days 4-5 – Tucson
On Day 4, dine in true Southwestern style at a popular Tucson. On Day 5, enjoy a free day of sightseeing. At your leisure you can see where Wyatt Earp and Doc Holliday won gunfights and where the infamous John Dillinger was captured. Overnight Tucson. (D)
Day 6 – Overnight aboard Amtrak
Transfer on your own and board Amtrak for San Antonio. Unwind as you ride across the American Southwest in your private Roomette sleeping accommodations. Overnight train. (B, L, D)
Days 7-8 – San Antonio
On Day 7, you’ll have a chance to watch history unfold. Your history lesson begins with admission to San Antonio’s IMAX Theatre for a viewing of “Alamo – The Price of Freedom.” On Day 8, you’ll visit San Antonio’s first Spanish mission founded in 1718 - The Alamo. Your tour also includes a riverboat cruise and museum admission. Overnight San Antonio.
Day 9 – San Antonio to New Orleans
Transfer on your own and board Amtrak to New Orleans. Take it easy in the “Big Easy” and enjoy a free day at your leisure. Overnight New Orleans.
Days 10-11 – New Orleans
On Day 10, absorb the sights and sounds of the world famous French Quarter and historic Jackson Square with your city tour. On Day 11, enjoy your included brunch at one of New Orleans’ most famous restaurants located in a picturesque old-world courtyard. Overnight New Orleans. (BR)
Day 12 - Overnight aboard Amtrak
Transfer on your own and board Amtrak to Washington, DC. Put your feet up and enjoy your ride across the American Southeast in your private Roomette sleeping accommodations! Overnight train. (2B, L, D)
Days 13-14 – Washington, DC
On Day 13, you may want to spend your free time exploring downtown before heading to your included dinner at a popular restaurant in Washington, DC. On Day 14, rediscover our nation’s history on a hop-on / hop-off sightseeing tour, which includes Arlington, Georgetown, and more. Overnight Washington, DC. (D).
Days 15-16 – Washington to New York City
Transfer on your own and board Amtrak to New York City. Tour the city on a double-decker bus and use your CityPASS to visit some of New York City’s most popular attractions. On Day 16, continue your sightseeing tour with your 2-day hop-on / hop-off pass. Dinner at New York City’s only revolving rooftop restaurant with a view is included. Overnight New York City. (D)
Day 17 – New York City
Your cross-country rail journey comes to an end today.
