A quick train getaway from Chicago awaits on this 4-day escorted rail tour to Red Wing, Minnesota. Begin your journey in Chicago, where you board the Empire Builder for your journey northwest, following the Mississippi River to scenic Red Wing. Spend a day touring the city including a visit to the Red Wing Shoe Museum. You will also enjoy a full-day excursion to the nation's most visited tourist attraction, the Mall of America, before returning to Chicago aboard the Empire Builder.
Day 1 - Empire Builder to Minnesota
Join us in riding the rails from Chicago's Union Station to Red Wing, MN. The Sunday afternoon departure of the Empire Builder Superliner lets you enjoy a leisurely dinner in the diner (on your own account). It's Amtrak's Enhanced Dining car service with complete meals served on china. Or watch the Wisconsin fall foliage from the extra wide windows of the Sightseer Lounge car. The cafe downstairs in the Lounge sells snacks, sandwiches and beverages. Our train arrives in Red Wing and stops at the brick and stone depot built by the Milwaukee Railroad in 1904. It's now fully restored as the home of the Visitors and Convention Bureau.

Day 2 - Explore Red Wing
Monday morning breakfast and lunch are on your own. Explore the resort and the many activities available: gaming in the casino, golf, swimming, bowling, and bingo. Then, depart on an early afternoon tour of Red Wing by motorcoach. We will stop at the Red Wing Shoe Museum, pottery factory, harp factory and a photo op at Memorial Park. Later that evening, a candlelit dinner cruise on the Mississippi River is included in your tour. Overnight Red Wing. (D)
Day 3 - Mall of America
Embark on a motorcoach trip to the Mall of America in Bloomington, the nation's most visited tourist attraction with 520 stores and 50 restaurants. And with no sales tax on clothing and shoes, you're in for great savings! Attractions include Nickelodeon Universe, the indoor amusement park; SEA LIFE® Minnesota Aquarium, a 14-screen movie theater and much more. Day 4 - Empire Builder to Chicago
After an early breakfast on Wednesday, we'll board the Empire Builder for Chicago for the all-daylight ride along the Mississippi, then through Wisconsin's forests and farms ablaze in fall colors. The diner and cafe are open for lunch as the Empire Builder crosses the Wisconsin Dells on our way home.
Hotel nights are at the Treasure Island Resort & Casino. Amtrak accommodations are in Coach class and include a reclining seat with leg rest and access to the Sightseer Lounge car.
