Grand Canyon Railway

The Railroad was originally built to transport ore from the Anita mines, 45 miles north of Williams in the late 1800s.

However, the area didn't supply enough ore to fulfill those dreams, and the railroad ran into financial trouble in 1899.

Service to the Grand Canyon was halted in 1968, and it was not until 1989 that the line was re-opened.

Now train lover can experience what it was like for miners and ranchers to make the long trek from the canyon to Williams, while taking in the natural beauty of one of the Seven Wonders of the World, the Grand Canyon.

  • All locomotives were built before 1924 and have been painstakingly restored to their original condition.
