Day 1 - Arrive in Boston
Arrive in Boston and transfer on your own to your hotel. Meet your tour manager and fellow travelers at 6:00 pm for a brief meeting followed by dinner on your own at the hotel, or venture to Boston for dinner. Overnight near Boston/ Logan Airport.
Day 2 - Winnipesaukee Rail Excursion / Kancamangus Highway
Your fall colors adventure begins today! After breakfast at the hotel this morning, we'll board our deluxe motorcoach and travel to Meredith, NH for a two-hour fall foliage train excursion aboard the Winnipesaukee Scenic Railroad. Sit back and relax as the train travels along the shores of Lake Winnipesaukee with the vibrant colors of the surrounding foliage the perfect backdrop for the day's journey. Lunch is included at the Lakehouse Restaurant at Mills Falls.
Next, we board our motorcoach and make the scenic drive to Bretton Woods along the Kancanmagus Highway, a scenic 34 mile highway known as one of the best fall foliage viewing areas in the country, and with the White Mountains as the backdrop. The highway is designated as an American Scenic Byway for its rich history, aesthetic beauty and culture. Overnight Bretton Woods. (B,L)
Day 3 - Mt. Washington Cog Railway/Conway Scenic Railroad
Today is brimming with great train adventures into the heart of fantastic foliage! We begin with an early morning excursion aboard the Mt. Washington Cog Railway. On this three-hour guided journey, you'll learn about the area's history and travel to the highest peak in the northeast on North America's steepest train tracks. At the 6,288-foot summit of Mt. Washington you'll have about an hour to spend photographing the panoramic view that spans the mountains of New Hampshire, Maine, Vermont, Northern Canada, and the Atlantic Ocean. Enjoy lunch at the base of Mount Washington before boarding the Conway Scenic Railroad at Fabyan Station. We will travel aboard the 140-year-old Conway Scenic Railroad on vintage, restored locomotives from Fabyan Station through the steep ravines and mountain peaks of Crawford Notch to North Conway. Return to the Historic Mt Washington Hotel for a free evening to relax and enjoy the surrounding area. (L)
Day 4 - Quintessential Vermont / Quebec
After breakfast in the elegant main dining room of the Historic Mount Washington Hotel, our day continues by motorcoach through New Hampshire and then into Vermont, where our sightseeing includes visits to the Morse Farm Maple Sugarworks, a 200-year-old family business, and the Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream Factory. There will be time for lunch on your own along the way. Our day's journey concludes as we cross the US-Canada border in the Province of Quebec and check into our hotel. Overnight Montreal. (B)
Day 5 - Montreal Sightseeing
This morning we depart on a sightseeing tour of Montreal, which includes must-see sights such as the Notre Dame Basilica, historic Old Montreal and Mont Royal. The remainder of the day is at your leisure to shop in the city's fashionable boutiques, explore the colorful neighborhoods, and indulge in some culinary delights. Overnight Montreal.
Day 6 - Montreal to Quebec City
After breakfast, we'll board a VIA Rail train for Quebec City, the capital of Quebec Province and one of North America's oldest settlements. We are scheduled to arrive in Quebec City in time for lunch in the Old City, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, followed by a Quebec City sightseeing tour including highlights such as the Latin Quarter, the Plains of Abraham, the Fortifications, and Place Royale. We'll check into our hotel in Old Quebec, and you'll have the evening to yourself to explore the lights of the city or enjoy one of the area's restaurants. Overnight Old Quebec City. (B,L)
Day 7 - Quebec City
You'll have the entire day at your leisure to explore Old Quebec City and its surroundings. Have breakfast at one of the many French cafes before walking through the historic streets and along the fortified wall. There is so much to see in a city that showcases its well-preserved past—dating back to 1608—alongside its modern day achievements. Dinner this evening is at the Manoir Parc de la Chute-Montmorency, where we'll dine with breathtaking views of the great Montmorency Falls and Ile d'Orleans. Overnight Old Quebec City. (D)
Day 8 - Quebec City to Bar Harbor, ME
After breakfast we'll depart Quebec City aboard our motorcoach, traveling the Old Canadian Scenic Byway bursting with fall colors as we make our way across the Canadian -US border and into the lovely state of Maine. Lunch is included on the trip. Bar Harbor, the gateway to Acadia National Park, is our destination and home for the next two nights. Upon arrival, the evening is yours to enjoy Bar Harbor's shopping and dining scene, which is famous for local lobster. (B,L)
Day 9 - Acadia National Park
This morning we visit the oldest national park east of the Mississippi River, Acadia National Park. This seaside park takes in Mount Desert Island and surrounding smaller islands. During our guided tour, we'll travel to the top of Cadillac Mountain for fantastic views of the Atlantic Ocean. We'll return to Bar Harbor this afternoon with the remainder of the day at leisure to explore the town's shops and harbor views. This evening we'll enjoy a traditional New England Lobster Bake dinner. Overnight Bar Harbor. (B,D)
Day 10 - Coastal Drive to Rockport
After breakfast we embark on a scenic drive along the coast of Maine to Rockport, MA. Along the way, we'll stop at the Old Portland Maine Market area for sightseeing and shopping followed by a visit to the Portland Head, the historic lighthouse constructed at the direction of George Washington. Our last night on tour will be spent overlooking the Atlantic Ocean in Cape Ann's historic grand hotel, where dinner is included. Overnight Rockport. (B,D)
Day 11 - Tour Conclusion
After breakfast and one last stroll along the Atlantic Ocean, our motor coach transfers everyone to Logan International Airport for flights departing after 1:00 pm or to Boston's South Station for trains departing after 1:30 pm for your return travels home. (B)
