About the tour

Set sail on one of Holland America's luxurious cruise ships for a seaside trip from Vancouver, Canada to Skagway, Alaska. Sailing through the Inside Passage takes us to Juneau and Skagway, and from here, the journey continues on land to Whitehorse, Dawson City, Fairbanks and finally, to the crowning jewel of this journey, Denali National Park. With three days of guided and independent activities within Denali, there is ample opportunity to get in touch with nature. From the park, we continue onto our final stop, Anchorage. Choice activities, unbelievable onboard amenities and some of the best views imaginable make this trip one to remember.

Highlights

What’s included

Itinerary

Day 1 - Arrive in Vancouver

Travel to Vancouver by your own means to board your Holland America cruise liner, your home for the next three days. Overnight ship.

Day 2 - Scenic Cruising

Soak in the breathtaking scenery as our cruise ship makes its way through the Inside Passage. The full day is spent aboard the ship, so keep your camera handy to capture the stunning views. When not gazing out across the water, enjoy some of the ship's high-end amenities, on-board entertainment options or classes. Overnight ship.

Day 3 - Tracy Arm and Juneau

Awake to glacier and fjord views, and choose an adventure to fill your morning. Today's optional excursions include visits to Tracy Arm and Sawyer's Glacier, which is located at the end of Tracy Arm. Enjoy the snow-covered vistas, and keep your eyes peeled for the many types of local wildlife, including bears, wolves, seals, mountain goats and more.

After the outing, return to the ship for the final stretch of today's journey to Juneau. Ample time is allotted to explore the capital city, and you have the choice to do so independently or as a group on one of the optional excursions. Complete your time in Juneau with some retail therapy in one of the many interesting local shops. Whether it is art, jewelry or artisan goods you seek, Juneau's retailers deliver. Overnight ship.

Day 4 - Skagway

We arrive in Skagway this morning, and it is at this time that our seaside journey ends and land travel begins. Disembark the ship to meet your Journey Host and to learn more about the days ahead and the adventure that awaits. Our time in Skagway sets off with a historical city tour, featuring a look at the downtown area's wooden boardwalks and unique false-fronted buildings. The evening is yours to relax as you please. Overnight Skagway.

Day 5 - Skagway

Enjoy Skagway your way today. There are several optional excursions to choose from, which allow you to experience different aspects of the town and the region itself; however, you are welcome to spend the day exploring at your own pace. There are an abundance of natural sites in the region, including a waterfall and a national park, for those hoping to get out in nature. The Jewell Gardens are a great modern site to check out, while the Red Onion Saloon Brothel Museum and the Gold Rush Cemetery provide a glimpse back to years past. Overnight Skagway.

Day 6 - Transit to Whitehorse

The group departs Skagway this morning and makes its way to Fraser via the historic White Pass Train, a line that dates back to the late 1890s. Aboard the vintage rail cars of this narrow-gauge train, take in the mountain peaks, bridges, waterfalls, tunnels, gorges and glaciers that make this area so picturesque. The tour continues from Fraser to Whitehorse aboard Explorer coach. Overnight Whitehorse.

Day 7 - Transport to Dawson City

Set out on the same path as the Klondike gold stampeders en route for Dawson City today. Our comfortable group transportation allows you to enjoy the changing scenery during the approximately 7-hour journey through the Yukon Territory. The trip is complete with a stop for lunch and to stretch your legs in the historic town of Minto. Overnight Dawson City.

Day 8 - Dawson City

The history of Dawson City is apparent, and you have the opportunity to experience the wonder of times past in whatever way you desire: on your own or with the group on optional excursions. Some sites not to miss this morning include the Dawson City Museum and the Palace Grand Theatre. This afternoon we set out on the Klondike Spirit, a paddlewheel-style boat that evokes the nostalgia of yesteryear. As the cruiser travels along the Yukon River, the narrator introduces us to some of the area's most notable sites and details Dawson City's extensive past. Once the tour concludes, we head back to the city for an evening of leisure. Overnight Dawson City.

Day 9 - Fairbanks

Instead of spending hours aboard a motorcoach, you instead travel by air for this morning's adventure. The group makes its way to the local airport for a short flight from Dawson City to Fairbanks, Alaska. Known as "The Golden Heart City," Fairbanks is a true hub of culture and features parks, museums, a wonderful botanical gardens, restaurants, shopping, nightlife and much, much more. Upon arrival in this interior-Alaska city, the rest of the day is yours to spend as you see fit. Overnight Fairbanks.

Day 10 - En Route to Denali National Park

After a step back in time to pan for gold at the historic Gold Dredge 8, it's off to Denali for a leisurely three night stay at this magnificent national treasure. Overnight Denali.

Day 11 - Denali National Park

Today features the unforgettable Tundra Wilderness Tour. This 5-6 hour, fully narrated sightseeing excursion takes you into the heart of Denali National Park. In 2022 and 2023, the tour will go to mile 43 because of road construction but will continue to offer the best opportunity to view Denali's iconic wildlife and North America's tallest peak. Overnight Denali.

Day 12 - Denali National Park

Explore on your own or take optional excursions with an entire free day in Denali. Don't miss the chance to visit Denali Square and immerse yourself in the Denali experience. Overnight Denali.

Day 13 - Journey to Anchorage

Say goodbye to Denali, as we board the McKinley Explorer this morning bound for Anchorage. The beautiful domed-glass railcars provide 360-degree views of the park and the surrounding wilderness as we make our way towards the city. Interesting commentary is provided by the host guide, and onboard amenities include a full bar, wonderful dining options, foot rests and plenty of space to spread out. Upon arrival in Anchorage, the Journey Host departs and you are on your own for the remainder of the day. Check out Anchorage's restaurant scene, shop or take a walk around the city - the choice is yours. Overnight Anchorage.

Day 14 - Trip Conclusion

Your Yukon Triple Denali journey comes to a close this morning. Transfer to Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport for your return flight home.

Our trip was fantastic! Kelly Ulm, our tour director was unbelievably kind, helpful, supportive and informative! The cruise, with Adagio-piano and violin duo, surpassed all expectation! The McKinley Explorer and Yukon and White Pass train excursions were phenomenal! Perfection! Whitehorse fell far short! The Westmark hotel is a nightmare waiting to happen--it is unsafe--a fire hazard and dirty. The men at the checkin should not be hoteliers. They did nothing for their guests. They were far more interested in their hairstyle and turban. If we ever decide to take another vacation that includes trains, you will be top of my list. Marsha R. Roberts
