Day 1 – Arrive in Quebec City
Upon arrival in Quebec City, you will be met at the airport and transferred to your hotel. Spend the remainder of the day getting acquainted with the city on your own. Stroll the cobblestone streets, visit the unique shops, and delight in the city’s sidewalk cafes and street entertainers. Overnight Quebec City.
Day 2– Quebec City Sightseeing
Today embark on a sightseeing tour of Quebec City. You'll see both the historic and modern sides of this enchanting city during visits to the Latin Quarter, the Plains of Abraham, the Citadel, the Fortifications, the National Assembly, Place Royale, and the Basilica among many other points of interest. Spend the remainder of the day exploring the city at your leisure. Overnight Quebec City.
Day 3 – Charlevoix Whale Watching
Get ready for an amazing experience as you travel through the Charlevoix Region and onto Baie-Ste-Catherine for an exciting whale watching cruise*. A naturalist guide will teach you about the beluga and finback whale environment, underwater marine life and the majestic Saguenay Fjord. Overnight Quebec City.
Day 4 – VIA Rail to Montreal
Set out on the first leg of your cross-country train journey. Today you will board VIA Rail for the short train ride from Quebec City to Montreal. The day is yours to explore Montreal at leisure. Spend time in Old Montreal, visit the Bonsecours Market, the Old Port, and the Montreal Science Centre. You won’t want to miss underground Montreal with its fabulous shopping. Overnight Montreal.
Day 5 – Montreal Sightseeing
Embark on your Montreal sightseeing tour to more than 200 points of interest throughout the city. Highlights include Notre Dame Basilica, historic Old Montreal, the Olympic Complex, McGill University, and a breathtaking view from the top of Mount Royal. Spend the remainder of the day exploring Montreal's colorful neighborhoods on your own. Overnight Montreal.
Day 6 – VIA Rail to Ottawa
Depart Montreal today for Ottawa. The trip is just under 2 hours- the perfect amount of time for a quick nap, a bit of reading, or a light bite to eat. Upon arrival, drop off your luggage, grab a map, and set off to discover the city’s unique shops and delicious restaurants. Overnight Ottawa.
Day 7 – Ottawa Sightseeing
Enjoy a sightseeing tour of Ottawa, Canada’s national capital. You will explore the Parliament Buildings, embassies, universities and museums. The Canadian Mint, the National Gallery of Canada, the Canadian Museum of History, the residence of the Prime Minister and the National Arts Center are among some of the stops included in you Hop-on Hop-off pass. You will also drive through scenic gardens and parklands and along the Rideau Canal, one of Ottawa’s picturesque waterways. Overnight Ottawa.
Day 8 – VIA Rail to Toronto
Embark on a 4 ½ hour journey by train to Toronto. You will have time to relax, get to know your fellow travelers, and take in the scenery as the train travels eastbound. Once in Toronto, the day is yours to explore the impressive landmarks and unique shopping. Overnight Toronto.
Day 9 – Toronto Sightseeing
Today's Hop-On Hop-Off sightseeing tour of Toronto takes you to the city's most loved landmarks as you travel the 12-mile route through the city's core, stopping at the sights that interest you most. Enjoy Toronto's impressive landmarks and unique shopping, and indulge in some fine dining this evening. Overnight Toronto.
Day 10 – Niagara Falls Sightseeing / VIA Rail to Winnipeg
This morning, depart on a full day sightseeing excursion to Niagara Falls. Travel through the orchard-laden Niagara Peninsula to Niagara Falls, one of the great wonders of the world. Highlights of today's excursion include a lunch buffet while overlooking the waterfall, plus a trip on the world-famous sightseeing boat, The Hornblower, which travels to the base of the majestic Horseshoe Falls. Also included is a trip along the beautiful River Road, which winds its way along the Niagara Gorge. Stops are made at the Floral Clock and at the historical community of Niagara-on-the-Lake before returning to Toronto. This evening transfer to the VIA Rail station for your evening departure aboard VIA Rail’s Canadian. Overnight train. (L)
Day 11 – Journey to Winnipeg
As you awake this morning, the train is nearing the small town of Gogama, Ontario. Head to the Dining Car for a hot breakfast before exploring the amenities on board the train. First class passengers have access to all the lounges on board the train as well as to the Skyline Car - your exclusive entertainment center with an observation dome offering 360-degree views - and the Park Car with three different salons and an upper observation deck. Be sure to bring your camera as you explore the train to take advantage of the unique vantage point made available from the exclusive lounge cars. Overnight train. (B, L, D)
Day 12 – Arrival in Winnipeg
When you awake this morning, the train will be pulling into Winnipeg, the capital of Manitoba. After disembarking the train, transfer to your hotel and enjoy the remainder of the day at leisure. Overnight Winnipeg. (B).
Day 13 – Explore Winnipeg
Ride in style on a historically-inspired trolley for a guided tour of Manitoba’s capital*. You will see the best sights and learn why Winnipeg was once called the ‘wickedest city in Canada’. Discover how a local team became history’s first Olympic hockey champions. This afternoon, visit the Canadian Museum for Human Rights, the first museum solely dedicated to the evolution, celebration and future of human rights. Overnight Winnipeg.
Day 14 –VIA Rail to Jasper
Today you will transfer to the train station and re-board the Canadian for your overnight rail journey west to Jasper National Park. Overnight train. (D)
Day 15 – Arrival in Jasper
Take your morning aboard the train to enjoy the daytime views of the mountain terrain you’re traversing. You can do so from the comfort of your onboard accommodations, from one of the Lounge or Observation cars, or from the dining car while you are enjoying a hot meal. The train is scheduled to arrive into Jasper this afternoon. Transfer to your hotel, ideally located in the heart of Jasper National Park along Lac Beauvert, and spend the remainder of the day at leisure. Overnight Jasper. (B)
Day 16 – Nature Tour and Maligne Lake Cruise
Embark on a tour of one of the most spectacular areas of Jasper National Park*. Your first stop is at Maligne Canyon, where 10,000 years of erosion have created a deep gorge. You will take a short walk to marvel at the Maligne River as it thunders through the canyon in a series of waterfalls. From here continue to Medicine Lake and then to Maligne Lake for an interpretive boat cruise bound for the world-renowned Spirit Island. Overnight Jasper.
Day 17 – VIA Rail to Vancouver
Spend the morning at leisure in Jasper before re-boarding the Canadian bound for Vancouver. Settle in to your onboard accommodations as you begin the final leg of your train journey. Overnight train. (D)
Day 18 – Arrive in Vancouver
Upon arrival in Vancouver this morning, a private transfer will greet you at the rail station and take you to your hotel. Located in the heart of the city, you’re close to many of the city’s attractions, shops, and restaurants. Spend the remainder of the day exploring Vancouver at your own pace. Overnight Vancouver. (B)
Day 19 – Vancouver City & North Shore Tour
Today set off on a tour that offers a fascinating look at Vancouver. Points of interest include Canada Place, Robson Street, Chinatown and historic Gastown. You will stop in Stanley Park en route to the Capilano Suspension Bridge located in the North Shore rainforest. The tour caps off with a visit to Granville Island, where you will have time to explore the shops, public market, eateries and galleries along the water. Overnight Vancouver.
Day 20 – Conclusion
Your vacation comes to an end today. Upon check out of your hotel, a private transfer will take you from your hotel to the airport for your flight home.
Train and Hotel Accommodations
Hotels include the Fairmont Le Chateau Frontenac, Fairmont The Queen Elizabeth Hotel, Fairmont Chateau Laurier, Fairmont Royal York, Fairmont Winnipeg, Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge, and Fairmont Hotel Vancouver.
VIA Rail accommodations between Quebec City and Montreal, Montreal and Ottawa, and Ottawa to Toronto are in Business Class. Business Class travelers will receive exclusive access to in-station Business class lounge, priority boarding, complimentary Wi-Fi, spacious seats, and included food and cocktail service.
VIA Rail accommodations are in Sleeper Plus Class in a private cabin between Winnipeg and Jasper and Jasper and Vancouver. Meals are included onboard the train along with access to the Park Car with its lounges and 360-degree panoramic views. The journey from Toronto to Winnipeg will be in Prestige Sleeper Class.
