Let the gentle breezes of the Atlantic carry you through New England on this 8-day tour. The experience of the East Coast in the summer is unlike any other, and it will be on full display as you travel along the scenic coastline, cruise through various waterways and visit charming coastal towns. This round-trip journey begins and ends in Boston, and in between, you will visit Maine, Connecticut, New Hampshire and Rhode Island. You will dine on freshly caught lobster, be immersed in the unique history of the Eastern Seaboard and soak up the sun as you look over coastal waters. By land and by sea, this journey gives a fresh perspective on summer in New England.

Day 1 - Arrive in Boston
Arrive in Boston today, and transfer to your centrally located hotel on your own. After you are settled in your room, you will have some time to get acquainted with the city before joining your tour manager and fellow travelers this evening for an introductory meeting. Overnight Boston, MA.
Day 2 - Boston
Start the day with a guided tour of Boston. Learn about the city's history and see landmarks pivotal to the birth of a nation. Our tour ends at Quincy Market, where you can grab lunch in one of the restaurants or food stalls within this historic market. The remainder of the afternoon is free to sightsee at your leisure. Perhaps take a tour through the Boston Tea Party Ship and Museum. Of course, the views of the observation deck at Prudential Center are wonderful, and you can always have a seat at the harbor and watch the boats pass by. Your Tour Manager can offer suggestions on things to see and do. This evening, you will rejoin your group for dinner. Overnight Boston, MA. (B, D)
Day 3 - Kennebunkport/Portland
This morning we will make our way to Boston's North Station where we board Amtrak's Downeaster for the journey to Wells, Maine. Upon arrival, we transfer by motorcoach to Kennebunkport, where you have time to explore the town’s sites, walk along the sandy beaches and have lunch before we set sail. This afternoon, get an up-close look at Maine's lobster industry on a scenic lobster cruise. Watch seals basking in the sun as you sail through sparkling waters, pass the Bush family compound or have your picture taken with the day's catch. Following our cruise, we will transfer to Portland and our hotel for the night. Overnight Portland, ME.
Day 4 - Portland
From the beautiful waterline to the undeniable charm of the town's boutique shops and cobblestone streets, Portland has so much to offer. This morning we set out with a local guide to learn about the area's history, hear stories of the past and see some of the amazing sites in the area. Following the tour, you will have some free time to take in the essence of this coastal gem on your own. Begin with lunch at one of the eateries in town, perhaps sampling the local clam chowder or a warm-weather favorite, such as a lobster roll. After, take some time to stroll through the streets, meander along the sandy and rocky beaches, see the region’s lighthouses or explore the local arts scene. Later this evening, you will rejoin the group for a delicious lobster dinner. Overnight Portland, ME. (B, D)
Day 5 - Lake Winnipesaukee Cruise
This morning we will transfer from coastal Maine inland to Meredith, New Hampshire. It is here that we will board the Mount Washington for a scenic cruise across the beautiful waters of New Hampshire’s largest lake, Lake Winnipesaukee. As we cruise, you will see other boats moving across the waters, sandy beaches bordering the lake, beautiful lakeside houses and lush patches of forest. This one-way cruise takes us to Weir’s Beach, New Hampshire, where you will have some time to explore the resort town’s most beloved sites. Later this evening, we will board the Café Lafayette Dinner Train, for a 20-mile journey through the Pemigewasset River Valley. You will savor a chef-prepared five-course dinner in a fully restored dining car as you gaze upon the dramatic evening vistas. Day 6 - Mystic Seaport
Today we will explore the largest maritime museum in the United States, Mystic Seaport. This remarkable attraction combines art with history and land with the sea. Here, you will see halls full of interesting exhibits, restored vessels, wood carvings, vintage photography and more. There is a restored 19th century seaport village on site, which provides a look at coastal life in years past. You can watch expert craftsmen build ships in the shipyard, you will learn the importance of the stars and night sky above at the on-site planetarium and see history come to life through horticulture as you explore the heritage gardens throughout the museum. Day 7 - Newport
A day filled with adventure, today begins as we transfer from Mystic, Connecticut to Newport, Rhode Island, where we board the Rum Runner II. This motor yacht is our guide back to the time of Prohibition, and as we cruise through the waters of Newport Harbor and Narragansett Bay, you will see sites of old speakeasies and learn about the rum smuggling routes outlaws took. During this cruise, beautiful seaside mansions, islands and marine life come into view and complete this sailing experience. Once back at the harbor, you will have some free time to grab lunch and stroll through Newport. After, we will meet at Newport Craft Brewing and Distilling Co. for a tour of their beer- and spirit-making facilities and tasting of some of their most popular offerings, such as the summer hefeweizen beer and their White Squall Coastal Moonshine. The evening concludes with a ride aboard the Newport & Narragansett Railroad for an elegant dinner train experience. You will enjoy views of Aquidneck Island and Narragansett Bay as you dine on exquisite chef-prepared cuisine and are enraptured by the vintage Pullman-style experience the train offers. Following the train ride, we will be transferred back to Mystic for the night. Overnight Mystic, CT. (B, D)
Day 8 - Tour Conclusion
This morning, your time on the East Coast comes to an end. After breakfast, we will make our way back to Boston for transfers to Boston Logan Airport and South Street Station. Note that these transfers are for planes and trains departing after 1:00 p.m. (B)
