European Christmas Markets
Celebrate the holiday season with visits to the Christmas Markets in Germany and Austria.
Europe’s Christmas markets are a thing of legend. Dating back to the Middle Ages, these annual street markets usher in the holidays with stands featuring seasonal arts, crafts, holiday gifts, toys, and local food and drink. The concept of Christmas Markets originated in Germany and Austria, so it’s no wonder the most famous ones remain in Nuremberg, Munich, Salzburg and Vienna. Spend two days in each city, meandering through the markets and enjoying festive holiday celebrations while taking in the sights in each historic city.
