Beginning in Budapest set sail for one of Germany's oldest cities, Passau, aboard the MS Balero. En route, enjoy visits to Bratislava, Slovakia; the former imperial city of Vienna; and historic medieval riverside towns. Upon arrival in Passau, travel by coach into the Czech Republic and the city of Prague, one of Europe's most beautiful cities, for a 2-night stay. Continue your travels by train to Berlin, where your rail-river cruise vacation comes to an end with a 2-night stay in Germany's capital city.

Day 1 - Depart USA for Budapest
Board your international flight for the journey across the Atlantic Ocean. (Air travel is not included in tour cost)
Day 2 - Budapest Sightseeing / Board MS Balero
Arrive in Budapest, your embarkation point for your cruise along the Blue Danube. Budapest is one of Europe's most beautiful cities, and you'll see why on a morning city tour that includes a photo stop at Gellert Hill, and the opportunity to see some of the city's impressive sites like historic Buda Castle, 500-year-old Matthias Church, St. Stephen's Basilica, Fisherman's Bastion and the marvelous Royal Palace. Later, board the MS Balero and freshen up for the Captain's welcome reception and dinner followed by a Hungarian folklore show onboard. Overnight vessel. (D)
Day 3 - Budapest
There is free time this morning to explore Budapest—and there is so much to see! The city straddles both banks of the Danube and is linked by 7 bridges. Set off to see new sites or revisit some of your favorites from yesterday's sightseeing tour. Depart Budapest this afternoon and begin your cruise on the beautiful Danube River. Overnight vessel. Day 4 - Bratislava
Arrive in Bratislava and set off on a sightseeing tour where you will see the imposing Bratislava Castle, the National Slovakian Theatre and the Blumenthol Church. After passing through the Vienna Gate, discover Bratislava's charming old quarter on foot, admiring St. Martin's Cathedral, the coronation site of Hungarian monarchs, and quaint central square with its fairytale Town Hall. We depart Bratislava late this evening bound for Austria. Overnight vessel. (B, L, D)
Day 5 - Vienna
Upon arrival in Vienna, embark on an excursion to see some of the famous sights of this Baroque capital city and visit Schonbrunn Palace with its magnificent interiors and landscape gardens. This evening there is an optional excursion to the Vienna Mozart Concert held at the legendary Musikverein, the building where the Vienna Philharmonic performs its world-famous New Year's concert. We sail for Durnstein tonight. Overnight vessel. (B, L, D)
Day 6 - Durnstein / Melk
Arrive in the medieval town of Durnstein, nestled in the Wachau Valley, early this morning. You can explore the cobblestone streets lined with old burgher houses on your own, or join an optional walking tour. Next, we cruise to Melk, where you may wish to join an optional excursion to the 900-year-old Benedictine Abbey. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is perched high above the Danube River and boasts an opulent Baroque interior. See the Marble Hall and Library with its thousands of identically bound books as well as its terraced gardens which command breathtaking views over the river. This evening we depart for Linz. Day 7 - Linz
We arrive in Linz this morning. The city's centuries-old history is told through its Baroque architecture, which surrounds an ancient market square. Spend the day exploring the town on your own, or embark on an optional excursion to Salzburg where you can walk the famous Getreidegasse shopping lane past Mozart's birthplace. Depart Linz early this evening bound for Passau. Overnight vessel. (B, L, D)
Day 8 - Passau
We arrive in Passau, one of Germany's oldest cities, early this morning. Get acquainted with this fairytale town during a sightseeing tour, where you can admire the graceful arcades, cobblestone streets and the breathtaking St. Stephan Cathedral, which contains the largest pipe organ in the world. Enjoy an organ concert in the Cathedral followed by time at leisure. This evening we'll enjoy a Captain's Farewell dinner onboard the ship. Overnight vessel. (B, L, D)
Day 9 -Prague Sightseeing
After breakfast, disembark your river vessel and travel by coach to the Czech Republic and the city of Prague. Today's panoramic city tour shows off Prague's cultural and historic past. See Wenceslas Square, the Old Town Square, the medieval Charles Bridge adorned with statues that tell the story of the city's colorful past and visit Prague Castle. Dinner this evening at the hotel.Overnight Prague. (B, D)
Day 10 - Prague
You have an entire day at leisure to explore the city, revisiting some of the sights you saw on yesterday's tour or discovering new ones like the Church of our Lady of Tynand the Town Hall with its famous Astronomical Clock that displays not only the actual time but the movement of the sun and moon around the signs of the zodiac. Or, you may elect to set off on an optional walking tour of the Jewish Quarter. Overnight Prague. (B)
Day 11 - Train to Berlin
Transfer on your own to the rail station and board your train for the journey to Berlin. Upon arrival, check into your hotel with the day at leisure. Berlin is a vibrant city known for leading-edge art and music movements as well its deep ties to world history. Overnight Berlin. (B)
Day 12 - Berlin Sightseeing
Explore Berlin at your own pace on a Hop On/Hop Off tour that that offers an excellent orientation of the city en route to more than 20 of Berlin's popular landmarks and famous sights like the Reichstag, the Brandenburg Gate, Checkpoint Charlie and Alexanderplatz, the highest building in Berlin. Overnight Berlin.
Day 13 -Conclusion
Transfer on your own to the airport for your return flight home.

180-passenger MS Balero is a grand
river ship with a classically elegant interior. All staterooms offer excellent
river views. Two decks feature staterooms with French balconies and a panoramic
window. Each luxury stateroom is fully equipped with comfortable beds, private
bath with shower, air-conditioning and TV. Main deck staterooms have a window,
bed, TV, and private bathroom with shower.
Hotel accommodations include the Hotel Majestic and the Berlin Mark Hotel (or similar).
