The train trip from Chicago to Whitefish, MT was a difficult ride. Staying in the coach seats was really uncomfortable. I believe that there was a defect in the seat I was in; a bent hard wire on the right side was irritating my leg. My husband had a VERY difficult time sleeping, or getting any rest in those seats. I would have considered the bedroom or the other option, but I believed the prices to be OUTRAGEOUS! In December, I was quoted a price over $1K for ONE NIGHT! In May, the price had increased to OVER THREE THOUSAND DOLLARS!!!! Had we flown to Whitefish, or somewhere close by, I think the overall trip would have been much better. I realize that your name is VACATIONS BY RAIL, however, much of the time on the train was during darkness, so not much scenery was available.

Fantastic tour that takes you up close to all the beautiful scenery of the six national parks! Our Tour Manager Ed S. was excellent, provided interesting facts throughout the trip, and really cared about everyone having an enjoyable experience. Our driver Mike S. was also excellent with his safe driving and music along the way. The lodging and included meals were also excellent. This is a great way to see the parks! All you do is show up and let VBR take care of the driving, hotel arrangements and access into the parks. They pack a lot in and cover a lot of miles so you're not necessarily spending an entire day in each park, but it gives you an idea of which ones you might want to come back to and explore further with hikes, etc. Also, the train trip from Chicago is something that we will never repeat, but glad we did it for the "experience".

We enjoyed this trip very much. Our tour director - Ed - was awesome as was the bus driver Mike. Both worked together to make sure everything worked according to plan. The parks were so beautiful. And the hotels were great. The only downside was the 32 hour train ride from Chicago. It was very rocky but the employees and food were great. I would highly recommend this tour especially if Ed Selznick is your tour director.

Idaho stops were kind of lame but everything else was fantastic .Getting to the hotels earlier to relax before dinner would also be better ,especially for older folks .Ed and Mike were a great TM/driver team .
