The train was excellent; Amtrak was prepared for a handicapped person and the roomette and service met all expectations (both stewards, Darryl and Gregory, were extremely responsive). All Amtrak personnel were very good -- on the train and at all the stations. Overall, we had a wonderful time and would do this again. We met wonderful people in our travels. Highly recommend to the disabled, family member caregivers (you get to rest more -- no driving; more space and less hassle than on a plane), older people who like the outdoors, and to parents with young children. My daughter got to as close an adventure with nature as she possibly could and I got to re-connect with it also.
Overall it was a great trip. The weather was perfect the entire time. The meals on the train actually exceeded my expectations and the crew was very friendly. The accommodations could have been a little better in view of the cost. The sightseeing trips in the park were fantastic, and our agent was great in all that she did.
Fabulous way to travel and see country. Many delays did not change this, as sleeping car attendants made it very fun! Forces you to relax and people on train are a different bunch than in airports. Only wish a train was closer to our home!
