Day 1 - Depart USA for Italy
Embark on your transatlantic flight from your U.S. gateway. (International flight not included in tour price)
Day 2 - Rome, Italy
Benvenuto—welcome! Your Local Host is on hand to help maximize your time in the “Eternal City.”
Day 3 - Rome
Your morning guided sightseeing, with headset, is rich in religious and ancient history. Visit the Vatican museums to see its amazing treasures. In the Sistine Chapel, where the Conclave is held to elect new Popes, view Michelangelo's The Last Judgment and his famous ceiling paintings. Also on the agenda today, see monumental St. Peter's Square and Basilica, built in 313 AD above St. Peter the Apostle's tomb and home to Michelangelo's masterpiece Renaissance sculpture, the Pietà. Across the Tiber River, continue your immersion in history at the iconic Colosseum, built for 50,000 spectators, and the Roman Forum, where the oldest structures of the ancient city are located. (Note that there are occasions when the Vatican Museum is closed. On any of these dates, your full city sightseeing will be moved to an alternate day.)
Day 4 - Rome at Leisure
Ask your Local Host about wonderful options today, such as the Giardino degli Aranci (Orange Garden) on Aventine Hill for a magnificent view of the city.
Day 5 - Rome to Paris, France
Travel to Paris by air on selected flights.*
Day 6 - Paris
Morning guided sightseeing includes a drive past the Latin Quarter, Les Invalides, Place de la Concorde, the Arc de Triomphe, and a stop to take photos of the Eiffel Tower from one of the best panoramic viewing points. Also admire the heart of the city from a different perspective on a Seine River Cruise. Board your comfortable boat near the Eiffel Tower and spend a relaxing hour gliding by many of the city's important landmarks such as the L'Institut de France; magnificent Notre Dame Cathedral where Napoleon was crowned emperor in 1804; Hôtel de Ville, the city's municipal headquarters; the Conciergerie, formerly a notorious prison where Marie-Antoinette spent the last days of her life; famous Louvre Palace and museum; and much more.
Day 7 - Paris at Leisure
Your Local Host has many ideas for your day at leisure, such as a visit to King Louis XIV's Versailles, Musée d'Orsay, or where to shop for the quintessential French beret!
Day 8 - Paris to London, England
Travel by high-speed Eurostar train (standard class), to London.
Day 9 - London
Morning guided sightseeing includes all of London's famous landmarks. Drive past the Houses of Parliament and Big Ben; Westminster Abbey, where Prince William and Catherine. Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, were married; Whitehall's mounted horseguards; the Prime Minister's Downing Street; Piccadilly Circus and Buckingham Palace. Take photographs of the London Eye, the giant Ferris wheel situated on the river bank; and the Shard, the tallest building in Western Europe. Visit St. Paul's Cathedral (except on Sundays). Sir Christopher Wren's masterpiece with its world-famous dome is an iconic feature of London's skyline, and the awe-inspiring interior holds fascinating stories about its history.
Day 10 - London at Leisure
Full day at leisure. Your Local Hosts will have interesting suggestions. For example, visit one of the Tate Galleries. Tate Modern exhibits international and contemporary art, whereas Tate Britain is the home of British art from 1500 to the present.
Day 11 - London
Your vacation ends with breakfast this morning.
