Exploring Seville and boarding Al Andalus

This morning you'll be transferred to meet your fellow Al Andalus passengers to begin a tour of the city. Discover the cathedral crowned by the Giralda, a famous symbol of Seville, before exploring the Royal Alcázar. This set of Moorish palaces showcases elegant architecture, with ornately carved balconies, fountain-filled courtyards and spectacular gardens. Later, wander through the alleys of Santa Cruz Quarter and make a special stop at the beautiful Plaza de España before boarding the Al Andalus.

As you start your journey to Jerez, you'll enjoy dinner in one of the nostalgic restaurant cars. When you arrive at Jerez, the train will stay at the station, and you'll experience your first night aboard Al Andalus.

Ancient Cádiz

Day 3 – Ancient Cádiz

Ancient Cádiz

Following a hearty à la carte or buffet breakfast served on board, you'll continue your adventure as you travel by deluxe motorcoach to Cádiz. Considered to be the oldest continuously inhabited settlement in western Europe, the history of Cádiz stretches back to the time of the Phoenicians in 1100 BC. On a guided tour, you'll visit the attractions of this ancient city before free time to explore on our own. A labyrinth of narrow streets open up on to quaint squares brimming with life, while the yellow dome of the cathedral dominates the city skyline. Back on board, lunch is served as you travel back to Jerez, where the train remains overnight. Dinner is taken in a traditional restaurant in Jerez.

Savoring the famous flavors of Jerez

Day 4 – Savoring the famous flavors of Jerez

Savoring the famous flavors of Jerez

Jerez is famed around the world for its fortified wine. An anglicized version of the city name, sherry can only be made in the area around Jerez. After breakfast onboard this morning, you'll take the motorcoach to a sherry winery to learn the secrets of how this famous drink is made. You'll also be invited to taste the best varieties the winery produces. To round off your time in Jerez, you'll attend an equestrian ballet demonstrating the remarkable choreography between horses and rider.

Returning to the Al Andalus train, your journey continues to beautiful Ronda. Lunch is served in one of vintage dining cars as the Andalucían landscapes pass by your window before dinner later this evening.

The White Village of Ronda

Day 5 – The White Village of Ronda

The White Village of Ronda

Enjoy a leisurely breakfast aboard before touring Ronda, part of the route of the White Villages. Your own personal guide will take you to the Alameda del Tajo for breathtaking views, the historic Old Bridge and New Bridge which both span deep ravines, and you'll also see Spain's oldest bullring, the Palacio Mondragón. You'll then have some free time to explore Ronda where you can admire the beautiful views of the Serranía. When you return to the luxurious Al Andalus, you'll begin your onward journey to Córdoba, enjoying a delicious dinner onboard this evening.

World Heritage cities of Córdoba, Úbeda and Baeza

Day 6 – World Heritage cities of Córdoba, Úbeda and Baeza

Today you'll visit Córdoba, which was an important city in medieval times as the capital of the Al Andalus caliphate. You'll spend some time in one of its World Heritage sites, the Mosque-Cathedral of Córdoba. The Great Mosque was first constructed on this site in 785AD before being expanded. When the city was captured by Christian forces, the building was converted into a cathedral in 1236. Now, this major monument showcases both Moorish and Christian architecture influences.

Afterward, you'll return to the train for a leisurely lunch while the journey continues on to Linares station, near Baeza. Take this opportunity for some quiet time with the views and enjoy a drink in the privacy of your suite or in one of the luxury train cars.

In the afternoon, you'll visit the World Heritage cities of Úbeda and Baeza, both renowned for their collection of spellbinding Renaissance buildings. Returning to the train, you'll travel to Granada for the night. Enroute, enjoy dinner and this evening's onboard entertainment.

Granada and the Alhambra

Granada and the Alhambra

Perhaps the most famous building in Spain, today you'll see inside the sprawling hilltop fortress of the Alhambra. This spectacular World Heritage site is the preeminent example of Moorish architecture and, on the tour, you'll get the opportunity to admire the beautiful palaces and gardens of this fortress, once home to sultans and kings. Have your camera ready in the amazing Nasrid Palaces and its Patio of Lions. Strolling around the 14th-century Generalife Palace, enjoy the stunning gardens and fountains.

Later, there's free time to explore the fascinating city of Granada at your own pace. Dining at a local restaurant this evening, you could savor a taste of the region's popular cuisine.

Parador de Granada, your hotel within the Alhambra

Day 8 – Parador de Granada, your hotel within the Alhambra

After breakfast, you'll disembark from the Al Andalus train, bidding farewell to the crew as you set off for a final exploration of Granada on your own, perhaps stopping for a leisurely lunch. A private transfer will then whisk you away to your accommodation for the night - the Parador de Granada.

Nestled within the Alhambra's grounds, this unique hotel was once a monastery built by Catholic monarchs. Inside the Parador, you'll discover an enchanting blend of art, history, and comfort. Elegant furnishings and beautiful artwork are complemented by breathtaking views of the Generalife gardens, inviting you to take peaceful strolls. This exceptional setting promises a stay filled with relaxation, and unforgettable memories.
