The actual train trip was amazing. Silver Leaf Plus service and meals were outstanding! The only frustration was that information on transportation once we arrived in Moab wasn’t shared with us ahead of booking a shuttle service (tat was provided for free we learned too late) and it was very time consuming to try to figure out how to get a rental car in Moab. We ended up flying out to Salt Lake the same day. Would have loved to stay in Moab one night.

Overall I think the trip was great, however there were areas of opportunity for improved operations. We were not staying at one of the recommended hotels but we were informed it was mandatory to check in the night before. We went unnecessarily out of our way to get our bags tagged which we could have done in the morning had they opened it up early. I am not sure why we arrived at a train station to be transported by bus to our train. We could have just met where the train was departing from. Service on the train was pretty great overall. I wish there were more/bigger viewing options available outside of the car. I was not impressed with the very early morning departure on day 2. I was on vacation, I did not want to start the next day that early and had no idea there was a coffee station outside so I waited quite some time for coffee. Unfortunately, there was an accident that required us to bus from Grand Junction. I think the initial organization was great and everyone was doing a good job during this difficult situation. Until we picked up the local staff and then confusion started. It was clear those that paid more money was being more accommodated than the rest of us and she mislead us on next steps. In the end, it all worked out and was a great way to explore.
