Day 2 - Rome
Morning guided sightseeing and orientation, including
headset, takes you to the Vatican museums to view some of its
amazing treasures. See the Sistine Chapel, with Michelangelo's
famous ceiling paintings and The Last Judgement. Visit monumental
St. Peter's Square and Basilica, originally built in 313 AD above
St. Peter the Apostle's tomb. From 1506, the Basilica was
reconstructed by great artists and sculptors, and it has the
largest interior of all Christian churches. Cross the Tiber River
and continue your immersion in history at the iconic Colosseum,
built for 50,000 spectators, and the Roman Forum, where the oldest
structures of the ancient city are located. (Note that there are
occasions when the Vatican Museum is closed.)
