Imagine watching polar bears hunting in their natural habitat and beluga whales migrating through frigid waters. Consider the beauty to be captured when the Northern Lights' idyllic colors blaze overhead more than 300 nights a year. All of this and more is presented when guests join VIA Rail's Winnipeg-Churchill train. This Adventure Route departs from Winnipeg twice a week year-round and follows a 2-day, 2-night course through Manitoba to Churchill.

Churchill is a place like no other. No roads lead in or out of the town; it is only accessible by train or plane. Its subarctic location and remote surroundings make Churchill the ideal home for some of Canada's most elusive and impressive wildlife, including Arctic hares, moose, lynx, Arctic foxes, and mink. Of course, Churchill is famous for being the world's polar bear capital, thanks to its winter population of these massive white mammals.

The Winnipeg-Churchill train traverses nearly 1,055 miles during its northerly route to this subarctic gem. Between destinations, the train presents fantastic views of rivers and waterways, farmlands, and boreal landscapes. After approximately 45 hours of transit, the train arrives in Churchill.

Passengers may select from Economy or Sleeper Plus Class for the journey through Manitoba. Economy is the most basic level on the Winnipeg-Churchill train. In this class, guests watch the changing landscape through the picture windows next to their comfortable reclining seats. Sleeper Plus class enjoy more private accommodations in either a berth or a cabin for one, two, or four.

There is no better way to access the untamed wilderness of northern Manitoba.
