Rattenberg

Known for being Austria's smallest town, Rattenberg is a delightful place that was an important silver mining centre until the 17th century. Among its highlights are its ruined hilltop castle and a photogenic huddle of pastel-coloured, medieval town houses. It has retained a real core of historic buildings as well as the aforementioned town houses, and there is a nice church on a bluff below the castle.
