Day 1 – Arriving in Perth

Your Australian expedition begins in Perth today, and on arrival, you will be transferred to your five-star hotel. Following check-in, you have a free day in this city that is constantly evolving and growing. It's known as the nature capital of Australia, and many visitors come for the long stretches of beach and the beautiful parks. But Perth is also a cultural hub with a thriving arts scene and a blossoming culinary community.

Your time in Perth also includes an excursion to Rottnest Island. Make your way to Pier 4 Elizabeth Quay Perth Barrack Street Jetty in the morning and depart on the Rottnest Express ferry to Rottnest Island. This 90-minute tour takes you to some of Rottnest's most spectacular locations and provides a complete interpretation of the island. Get an insight into the island's cultural and historical heritage, diverse wildlife, fauna and social heritage, and then spend the afternoon exploring independently at your own pace. You'll depart Rottnest Island on a Rottnest ferry, taking you back to Barrack Street Jetty, Perth.

Day 3 – The Indian Pacific

Get ready for a breathtaking journey as you transfer from your hotel to the Indian Pacific Train. Step aboard and feel the relaxation envelop you; everything is taken care of once you're onboard, and all you have to do is enjoy the ride. As the landscape passes by your window, giving you a view of Australia you can't see in any other way, you can learn about the tailored off-train experiences that await you at stops along the way.

In addition to fantastic scenery, the journey is filled with fine dining experiences, each dish made from locally sourced ingredients and showcasing the best the culinary region offers. Fine wines and other drinks of your choice are also included in your onboard experience.

Allow the train's rhythm to lull you in your Gold or Gold Premium cabin or suite while the train ventures through the pretty Avon Valley. Enjoy a pre-dinner drink in the Outback Explorer Lounge with fellow travelers, and look forward to your late-night arrival into the township of Kalgoorlie, famous for gold mining, where you can enjoy your first off-train excursion.

As you wake up to a spectacular Nullarbor morning, take in the outback views before visiting the fascinating ghost town of Cook. Once a bustling hub built for railway workers, Cook is now home to a quaint population of just four people. Travel back in time to centuries long past as you wander the streets and catch a glimpse of what life was like for pioneering Australians.

Rejoining the train, you continue across the Australian continent toward Adelaide while relishing another day of five-star service, impeccable cuisine and wonderful ambiance.

Day 5 – Adelaide

Glance out your window this morning to see the distinct change in the landscape. Rich rust-colored sands give way to lush forests and farmlands, signaling your near arrival to Adelaide. Here, you'll find a range of off-train experiences on offer, from a behind-the-scenes tour of the Adelaide Oval to seeing the highlights of the city on foot or by coach.

After experiencing the delights of the South Australian capital on your chosen adventure, return to the Indian Pacific to continue your journey toward Sydney.

The Blue Mountains

The full spectacle of the Blue Mountains greets you this morning as the train continues its breathtaking route toward Sydney. As the Indian Pacific arrives in Katoomba today, you can choose from numerous mountain experiences to explore this World Heritage-listed area. See the majestic Three Sisters at Echo Point and take in the views at Jamison Valley.

From here, the final miles of the journey take you to Sydney Central Station, where you'll be transferred to your hotel to check in and make the most of this beautiful harborside city.

Day 7 – Sydney Harbour Cruise

Prepare for an extraordinary journey on an all-inclusive 2 1/2-hour lunch cruise aboard an exclusive 78-foot luxury vessel. Departing Darling Harbour, your cruise ventures toward Sydney Harbour Bridge and passes the iconic Sydney cityscape and Sydney Opera House. Lunch is a long and lavish affair, including generous al la carte meals composed of locally sourced ingredients and regional produce. Each course is paired with wines from some of the finest wine-producing regions in New South Wales.

Following your cruise, you are welcome to continue exploring Sydney at your pace, perhaps venturing to the Royal Botanic Gardens or shopping in the historic Queen Victoria Building.

After spending a second night in your hotel, enjoy your free day in Sydney. Discover the city at your leisure, exploring at an easy pace and soaking up the delightful seaside atmosphere. Alternatively, you could choose one of our optional excursions. Take a small-group Panoramic City Tour, a tour of the iconic Sydney Cricket Ground, or a tour of the city's unmistakable Opera House, which are bookable at a supplement.

Day 9 – Tour conclusion

As your incredible journey comes to a close, an included transfer takes you from your hotel to Sydney Airport for your flight back home. Alternatively, extend your holiday by staying another night in Sydney and choosing to take in Cairns and the Great Barrier Reef or Uluru and the Red Centre, which are bookable at a supplement.
