Our journey through the Rhine Gorge comes to an end, and we arrive later this afternoon in the town of Koblenz, located at the confluence of the Rhine and Moselle rivers. You have time to explore, and we recommend strolling to Deutsches Eck where you'll be surrounded by inspiring vistas, including the mighty Ehrenbreitstein Fortress. A well planned adventure. We visited places that would have been difficult to manage on our own. Our guide from Vacations By Rail was experienced and kept our group on track (no pun) for our connections, I noticed that he was always counting heads to make sure no one missed a connection.

Great way to see the country side and loved the accommodations. Train Stations were a bit hectic and stressful. I think the challenges of getting luggage and seating on the train was understated but found the trains to be clean and comfortable once settled. The boat was a wonderful experience and offered an intimate way to travel the Rhine and have the opportunity to make acquaintances. Some stops were a bit rushed and would have enjoyed more time to explore the cities on our own. Everyone was very accommodating and pleasant.

Overall, this is a wonderful trip. If anyone needs help rushing through train stations, contact the stations to reserve a wheelchair at least 24 hrs ahead to reserve one. The hotels (especially in Chur and Zermatt) were outstanding. The long ride to Zermatt was breathtakingly beautiful. Food there was delicious and locals warm and helpful. Likewise for the Amadeus and its crew. Lovely and spacious accommodations and attentive service, combined with delicious food, made it a luxurious ride up the Rhine. We were met in Amsterdam by our train-portion leader Steve for a serene and enjoyable reentry into London. If all tour directors were as attentive, caring, and professional as Steve Thomas, we'd sign up for more!
