All rail and hotel bookings worked well. However, the tour was a little too long. Two of the hotels were not up to standard, namely Hotel Reine Victoria, St Moritz (tired and shabby, room smelled of stale cigarette smoke) and Hotel Wilden Mann, Luzern (faded non-matching furnishings, cold room which staff declined to address). The latter also tried putting me in a claustrophobic box of a room which I steadfastly refused. It was tiny with low ceilings and heavy drapes. I was offered another room which was small but more comfortable. I understand it is an ancient hotel and attempts have been made to retain the characteristics of the combination of seven 500 year old houses but surely, the guests' comfort should be paramount.

I think the scenery was fantastic. The trains and busses were extremely clean and as comfortable as trains and busses could be. My problem was with the tour planner. Little to nothing in the way of details on how to go between trains and busses. Vague on best way to get to hotels. They could have better advised so we were not left to figure it all out on our own. While lugging our luggage down the streets. Even a little bit of info would have been helpful but they gave us almost nothing. Two of the hotels were kind of dumpy. The Residence in Grindelwald needs some serious refreshing. Don't stay at the Villa in Montreux, upgrade to the Royal Plaza, it's wonderful This was a self-guided tour and that was understood. However, they could have shared enough info to help us to know how best to get around. Oh, check your tickets carefully, they omitted two of our train tickets and we had to buy replacements on the SBB App. The emergency number couldn't seem to help us.

Train trips great. Hotels with one exception first class. Switzerland is expensive for a couple from Australia. We enjoyed the experience immensely.

Very well organized. Hotels were very accessible from the train. Enjoyed the special panorama trains with reserved seating. Really no complaints about the trip.

Unescorted trip was great but for a few issues along the way. Hotel Zurigo was terrible and we had no hint that it was a long convoluted hike from the train. There were lots of stairs too while lugging suitcases. HOTEL in Montreaux was worse. We never had any other unescorted groups in our hotel. Seems others we met were very near the train and in nicer accommodations. Hotel in Lucerne was terrible. 8x8 twin beds with broken TV and rude staff. We expected to at least meet with a person in Zurich before starting our tour but we were left to figure it all out. Thank heavens our neice showed us the apps for the trains and trams. She was a godsend. I would not recommend this tour because once you print your tickets you are left to figure the rest out on your own. We have done bus tours in Europe and were met by caring people that told us how things work and what to expect. I asked questions when I booked but that was 6 mos before the trip. The train to boat in Lucerne was a crap shoot. No direction as to where to go or how long the boat takes. We spent alot of time asking questions and asking for help to know whT to do.$6300 is a good chunk of change for a 10 day trip but I guess it's nothing in comparison to the escorted where there are so many extras and wonderful accommodations and dinners.
