I feel that the decision by Rocky Mountaineer (RM) to not refund our monies over a two + year period awaiting the COVID and border issues to be resolved was a mistake. Once the issues were resolved I feel we would have re-booked our vacation. This decision definitely shaded our overall experience. Vacations By Rail (VBR) failed miserably to answer our questions after multiple attempts to get clarification of issues regarding re-bookings. Overall the quality of the product was only average. The LAS portion was poor as there was no support from (RM) or (VBR), other than the hotel being paid. A detailed literary should be provided at the beginning of the trip once we were checking in at the hotel at the beginning of the trip as the information on the RM website was not clear and in some cases contradictory. The Initial travel portion via bus transportation was fine as the transport company was as attentive and helpful as they could be (the drivers were outstanding!), again no noticeable support from RM or VBR. Once the Train travel portion started the service was good but the choices of drinks and food were marginal considering the monies paid. There should be an option to spend an additional day in Glenwood, CO. Finally, the Denver location and accommodations were very good but again no interaction between RM and the travelers other than the initial welcome upon arrival getting off the train. The hotel in Denver was very nice. Transportation or vouchers to the hotels and airports, etc. should be provided on both ends of the trip. Clear and Concise instructions via the respective websites of both RM & VBR was poorly communicated even when calling directly for clarifications, (the help phone personnel were also unsure of the plans in some cases). Overall, the locations were scenic and the staff who interacted with the guests were very nice and attentive, but poor communications and limited selections for the monies paid resulted in the trip being somewhat average at best.
