Itinerary

Day 1 -  Arriving to the red rocks of Utah

Your journey from the red rocks of Utah's deserts to the dramatic mountain scenery of Colorado begins today in Moab. This desert destination sits at the cusp of fantastic adventures, with the Colorado River running through the edge of town and Dead Horse Point State Park, Arches National Park and Canyonlands National Park within reach. As you arrive today, make your way to your hotel to check in for the night, and then you are free to get to know your surroundings.

Whether you crave outdoor adventures like mountain biking, hiking, or mountain climbing or hope to explore paleontology or Native American culture, Moab has it all. You could whitewater raft on the Colorado River, book a Jeep tour to explore off the beaten path, or stick to Downtown Moab, where art galleries sit amongst fantastic restaurant and store options. Overnight Moab.

Day 2 -  Into the mountains on Canyon Spirit

Weather permitting, the sunrises in Moab are spectacular. As the sun makes its way over the horizon, the clay-colored cliffs and rock formations are wrapped in multihued skies creating beautiful scenes. You might like to head out on a local trail to witness this for yourself. There are paved walking and biking paths within downtown Moab, and just outside of town are tons of hiking trails you could explore, including in Arches National Park.

Returning to Moab later in the day, you are transferred from your hotel to the railway station to board Canyon Spirit and take your comfortable, reclining seat in a domed-glass carriage. This luxury train makes sightseeing a priority and provides opportunities from every angle - including from an open-air viewing platform.

Dinner is served at your seat, meaning you never miss a moment of grandeur as the train crosses the Colorado border and head toward Glenwood Springs, where you stay for the night. As the train pulls into the station, a transfer takes you to the hotel, where you have a free evening to soak up the new scenery. Overnight Glenwood Springs.

Includes
  • Dinner
Day 3 -  Across the Continental Divide to Denver

After a transfer back to Glenwood Springs' railway station this morning, rejoin Canyon Spirit for another day of jaw-dropping views from a perspective not seen by any other form of travel. Breakfast is served as the train sets off, bound for the "Mile High City."

Views of rugged canyons and the powerful Colorado River guide the course, with the mountain views surrounding. Tilt your head back to see the snow-capped peaks of the Rockies through the glass roof, or step outside to breathe in the fresh mountain air. In your carriage, enjoy complimentary alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks and a multi-course lunch.

Like yesterday, there is a dedicated host in each carriage who narrates this epic journey. Hear stories of Utah and Colorado's pasts and relax as they point out scenic highlights along our beautiful route.

Canyon Spirit trundles across the Continental Divide later this afternoon and approaches Colorado's capital city. As the train pulls into Denver's historic Union Station, you are transferred to your hotel for check-in and then can get to know Denver, perhaps at a local restaurant or brewery. Overnight Denver.

  • Breakfast, Lunch
Day 4 - Tour conclusion

Having crossed from the red rocks of Utah to the lush alpine scenery of Colorado aboard Canyon Spirit, your journey comes to a close today in Denver. Upon checking out of your hotel, you are free to continue experiencing the city at your own pace.

The city's museums, such as the Denver Art Museum and the Denver Museum of Nature and Science, are visitor favorites, as are the Red Rocks Amphitheater and the Botanic Gardens. You could also wander through historic Larimer Square or the city's eclectic neighborhoods, including the River North Art District and Highland, before continuing your onward travels home independently.
