Much of Rome's rich history and culture is within a short distance, regardless of the accommodations you choose.

Touring the ‘Eternal City’ of Rome

Today, get to know Rome with a chauffeur-driven tour through the historic streets. See many of the city's most iconic landmarks, including St Peter's Square, the Colosseum, the Forum, Piazza Navona, and the Trevi Fountain. At each stop, you can explore at leisure while your English-speaking driver provides expert commentary, directions, and personalized recommendations for additional sights and activities. If you wish to delve deeper into Rome's history, additional excursions are available for an extra charge.

Day 3 – Rome to Florence

Rome to Florence

Take some time in Rome this morning to wrap up any sightseeing or shop for last-minute souvenirs. Later, you are transferred to the station, where you board your high-speed train to Florence. The journey takes just under two hours and travels through the breathtaking Tuscan countryside to the cultural city of Florence.

On arrival, you will be transferred to your hotel. Choose between our selection of four-star hotels, and after settling in, enjoy an evening in Tuscany's capital.

Day 4 – Discovering Florence

Discovering Florence

This morning, enjoy an introduction to the birthplace of the Renaissance on a walking tour of Florence's city center. Wander at a leisurely pace with your guide, who leads you past landmarks such as Giotto's bell tower, the Duomo, Piazza della Signoria, Piazza Santa Croce, and Ponte Vecchio.

Alongside these famous sights, you will also discover hidden gems like the Orsanmichele façade and the whimsical 'porcellino' (little pig) fountain. Your guide enriches your walk with historical insights and captivating stories, painting a vivid picture of this beautiful city.

Following the tour, you can spend your day as you please. There are additional, optional excursions available at a supplementary cost.

Florence to Venice

Day 5 – Florence to Venice

Florence to Venice

Begin your day with a free morning in Florence. This is a great chance to soak up the city's Renaissance history or shop for last-minute souvenirs. You might like to visit the famous Uffizi Gallery, although we do recommend booking in advance. Later, you are transferred to the station to catch your high-speed train to Venice.

Your rail journey takes just over two hours and takes you through the wine region of Emilia-Romagna all the way to Venice on the east coast. On arrival, you will be transferred to the four- or five-star hotel of your choosing.

Day 6 – Exploring Venice

Exploring Venice

Discover Venice through the eyes of a local on this exclusive walking tour led by a professional guide. Stroll through charming squares, known as 'campis', and visit iconic landmarks, such as the Bridge of Sighs, before concluding at the Rialto Bridge.

Your guide can suggest places for you to continue exploring by yourself, or take one of our optional excursions (available at a supplement).

Day 7 – Venice Simplon Orient Express

Your time in Venice comes to an end in glorious fashion as you board the Venice Simplon Orient Express. Settling in to your historic cabin, watch as the 'floating city' fades into the distance as you being this sensational journey. The sense of opulence and sophistication is immediate on boarding this iconic train. With carriages dating from the 1920s and 1930s, the Art Deco details have been thoughtfully restored, while every carriage has a personal steward who's on hand to deliver a top-quality service. Every detail of this luxurious train has been lovingly thought through. Relax in your luxury cabin before heading to the restored restaurant car for a four-course dinner. Later, get to know your fellow passengers while live music from the pianist adds to the atmosphere in the bar car. At the end of the evening, settle into your cozy cabin for a night aboard the world's most famous luxury train.

Arriving in Paris

Day 8 – Arriving in Paris

Arriving in Paris

As you gently awaken aboard the iconic Orient Express, start your morning with pastries and coffee in your cabin, or take your seat in one of the restaurant cars for smoked salmon and eggs, and maybe a bellini. After breakfast, take some time to unwind, watching the world go by from your window, before arriving in Paris at around 1pm.

Disembarking in the French capital, transfer to your hotel in the Latin quarter.

Homeward bound

Day 9 – Homeward bound

After enjoying a relaxed breakfast at your hotel, take a moment to savor the last hours of your European vacation. When you are ready, a private transfer takes you to Paris' airport, concluding an unforgettable week. Having spent time in three beautiful Italian cities and crossed Europe on the famous Venice Simplon Orient Express, your once-in-a-lifetime tour concludes as you board your flight home.
