The Royal Scotsman

Discover the old-world ambiance of train travel in the rolling landscapes of the Scottish Highlands aboard the Belmond Royal Scotsman. Weaving its way past towering mountains, ancient castles, wooded glens and picturesque lochs, the Royal Scotsman captures the essence of Scotland and the heart of adventure and presents these elements in a truly luxurious railway experience.

The distinctive cry of bagpipes guides travelers to the platform, where uniformed attendants welcome guests aboard. A tapestry of gleaming marquetry, sumptuous fabrics and traditional Scottish tartans lend a decadent air to the carriages, and each cabin is thoughtfully designed with your relaxation in mind. With no more than 40 travelers onboard, there is plenty of space to relax and watch the breathtaking landscapes pass with a glass of whisky in hand.

Savor fine dining experiences created using the finest regional ingredients and unforgettable excursions that showcase the grandeur of Scotland as your chosen route unfolds. Whether you book treatments in the onboard spa or spend your days lounging in the Observation Car, on the Belmond Royal Scotsman, each journey is a showcase of Scottish finery and exceptional views.

Luxury Accommodation onboard The Royal Scotsman

Single Cabins

Each departure features two single cabins ideal for the discerning solo traveler. Rich mahogany lines the walls, leading to a sizable picture window - your private view of the colorful Scottish Highlands. Settle in with a plush lower twin-size bed and enjoy the comforts of home in a well-designed floor plan that includes a wardrobe, a writing desk and an en suite bathroom with a shower.

Double Cabins

The Edwardian country house styling continues through the Belmond Royal Scotsman's Double Cabins, of which four are on board. A cozy atmosphere is fostered by the plush Scottish fabrics adorning the double-size bed and draping the picture window. Each cabin has a wardrobe to stow away your belongings and a private en suite bathroom complete with a toilet, wash basin and shower.

Twin Cabins

You and a travel companion enjoy a private Highland retreat in the Royal Scotsman's Twin Cabins. Designed with rest and relaxation in mind, these cabins include two lower twin-sized beds, both plush with sumptuous bedding. Each of the 12 Twin Cabins features a well-designed en suite bathroom with a shower and an unforgettable perspective on the passing mountains, valleys and lochs.

Grand Suites

The most exclusive and grand of the Royal Scotsman's offerings are its two Grand Suites. Pure indulgence awaits in these spacious cabins, featuring separate sitting and sleeping areas and a marbled en-suite bathroom with shower. Soak up traditions surrounded by tweeds and tartans, and enjoy a personal butler service, in-cabin dining by request and a complimentary spa service.

Dining onboard The Royal Scotsman
While traversing the ebbs and flows of the Highland landscape, embark on a culinary journey, as well, on the luxurious Royal Scotsman. The train is equipped with two dining cars, Raven and Swift, both of which are awash in rich fabrics and elegant finishes. Seated at your white-clothed table, prepare for a meal to remember, whether at breakfast, lunch or dinner.

The onboard chef showcases a range of talents as he prepares dishes using freshly sourced Scottish ingredients. Taste the flavors of the Highlands or the offerings of Scotland's coastline during the multi-course affairs, and wash them down with a suggested wine or one of the train's 50 malt whiskies - all of which are included in the price of your ticket. Hot beverages, soft drinks and a wide selection of liquors are also complimentary, allowing you to cherish the views and the once-in-a-lifetime experience of riding Belmond's Royal Scotsman with your favorite drink in hand.
