Winnipesaukee Scenic Railroad

Serving lakeside New Hampshire since 1991, the Winnipesaukee Scenic Railroad offers a juxtaposition of history and modern amenities, relaxation, and adventure. Views of New Hampshire's largest lake, Lake Winnipesaukee, overtake the scenery as the line's vintage diesel engines follow a course first set by the Boston, Concord & Montreal Railroad in the late 1800s.

The original line spanned 54 miles and connected New England's major cities with the natural reprieve of New Hampshire, either directly on the line or by connecting railroads. Since this trip, riders have continued to be enthralled by the tranquil scenes surrounding the tracks on the Winnipesaukee Scenic Railroad. Riders may select from either a one- or a two-hour round-trip excursion based on their travel preferences.

The railway's season begins annually in late May and runs through the fall when the trees burst into their fiery hues. On pleasant days, the conductor keeps the windows and the doors open on the train, so passengers can hear the rustling of the leaves and the sounds of the lake as the route unfolds.

Seated in comfortable, lovingly restored carriages, passengers are treated to a showcase of New Hampshire's serenity. From its lovely towns to its vast beauty, Winnipesaukee Lake offers the perfect mix of nature and nostalgia to make for a beautiful train trip.

“Everything exceeded expectations except for the hotel in Boston. It was extremely small and difficult to move around.
