Recognizing that train delays may occur, and vacationers shouldn?t really be in a hurry anyway, there are times that prolonged delays will sour all good will towards things one has to do. In my case, the announced delay began with a 4-hour delay, extended to 4 and a half, then, after much waiting, the train showed up FIVE AND A HALF hours later! Subsequently, instead of getting off around 8 am the next morning, the train actually arrived around ONE pm. I found myself having to eat AND pay the exorbitant price of breakfast on the train, plus my order of the delicious pancakes was forgotten. I finally received my pancakes, after all my table companions had finished their breakfast but were nice to stay to keep me company! The final surprise was that the re-order ended with only three luke warm pancakes, each of which was about two inches in diameter (at least the chef was consistent!). So miserable looking that my table companions all broke out in laughter! I gave a three star simply because the rest of the tour prior to my final vacation breakfast that I had to pay on the train was great! This small part of my experience really ruined my mood for the entire trip! I tried not to whine, but..

the Grand Canyon train was a blast because our car steward was so funny. AS with any natural formation, we had weather that was not perfect. snow and fog one day. one day fine.

We thoroughly enjoyed the Grand Canyon Railway, the Canyon and many little things too numerous to mention. At the end we fulfilled an ambition, no we fulfilled several ambitions in this one trip
