Itinerary

Day 1 - Boston

Arrive in Boston and transfer to your centrally located hotel on your own. After you are settled in your room, there is time to get acquainted with the city before joining your Tour Manager and fellow travelers at the hotel this evening for an introductory meeting. Overnight Boston, MA.

Day 2 - Kennebunkport

This morning board Amtrak's Downeaster at Boston's North Station for the journey to Wells, Maine. Upon arrival, we transfer by motorcoach to Kennebunkport, where you have time to explore the town's sites and have lunch before we set sail. This afternoon, get an up-close look at Maine's lobster industry on a scenic lobster cruise. Look at the colorful forests bordering the water's edge, pass the Bush family compound or have your picture taken with the day's catch. Following our cruise, we have some more time to explore Kennebunkport. Perhaps try another one of the local eateries, or simply enjoy the storybook views of rustic buildings against the deep blue waters and colorful foliage. Overnight Kennebunkport, ME.

Following the tour, you will have some free time to take in the essence of this coastal gem on your own. Begin with lunch at one of the eateries in town, perhaps warming your body and soul with a bowl of clam chowder. After, take some time to stroll through the streets, meander along the sandy and rocky beaches, see the region's lighthouses or explore the local arts scene. Later this evening, you will rejoin the group for a delicious lobster dinner. The most famous home in Newport is The Breakers, the Vanderbilt's summer home. Most things were really special about this tour - our tour guide, the places we went, the boat rides, the bus rides - especially through the White Mountains. In fact the bus itself was wonderful in so many ways, and the bus driver was fantastic! I wish we had received more information about specifics earlier - not just a few days before. It might have been nice to receive something like the General Information sheet we received at the first get together ahead of time. And I wasn’t sure exactly what time would be appropriate to arrive at the Boston hotel. In fact, I would have liked a schedule for that day. Also, I would have appreciated knowing more about bags and even maybe what to be sure to pack. Also, the Colony Hotel was nice, of course, in many ways, but the outlets were a problem for charging. There weren’t that many that worked, and the ones that did, didn’t charge our devices completely. Overall, though, it certainly was a special trip.

Big thank you to our motorcoach driver, Lorenzo. He was very friendly, talkative, helpful and safe driving. We had a great tour manager, Linda ika "Fun Size". She was extremely organized, informative, friendly and always had our best interest/enjoyment at heart. We were provided a detailed itinerary for the entire vacation. Then she provided additional handout and maps to show possible places to eat around each hotel. And she later texted us each evening of the next days activities and schedule. Very helpful. Never a dull moment with her! Boston tour was great. Then on to Kennebunkport for 2 nights at the Historic Colony Hotel where we were provided wonderful breakfast buffets and awesome lobster dinner. Now on to Portland and Newport. Also 2 dinner trains and 2 boat cruises. Mother nature cooperated with lots of fall colors in most areas. Highly recommend this vacation package. Hope you get out tour team as they went above and beyond exceptions. We are looking at the New England in a nutshell tour for next year. Jane & Rich
