About the tour
The traditions and charms of Europe are brought to life on this theatrical journey. Begin in the lakeside town of Desenzano, Italy, where colorful houses line the shore and sailboats float in the distance. Continuing around Lake Garda, the next destination is Verona, and here, explore a Roman arena, an amphitheater that dates back to 30 A.D. and a local winery. In addition to enjoying the scenes from the shore, a cruise on Lake Garda displays the azure waters of the lakes and the surrounding mountains. The destination is Isola del Garda, a stunning island brimming with history, beautiful architecture and lush gardens. By train, we leave Italy behind and travel past the Italian Alps into the heart of Germany's Bavarian region. Arriving in Oberammergau, enjoy time to explore the charming squares and beautiful wood carvings before attending one of the most highly anticipated live theater performances in all of Germany: the Passion Play. This play dates back to the 17th century and is put on by the townspeople of Oberammergau. Combining natural beauty, impressive history and the longest-running religious play in the world, this 8-day expedition is one to remember.

Itinerary
We meet with our Tour Manager today at London St Pancras International, where we board the Eurostar service to Paris where we stay overnight. On Day 2, we continue on to Lake Garda via Milan, where we arrive in Desenzano to check into our hotel.
Your evening is at leisure in Desenzano, before our dinner later tonight. With a host of colorful buildings lining the winding streets, Desenzano is pretty and well-suited to the relaxed atmosphere which permeates the villages around Lake Garda. At the heart of the town is a small harbor full of dainty sailing boats and looked over by a series of restaurants and bars.
