Alaska Vacations by Rail
With its massive glaciers, majestic mountains, pristine National Parks and storied frontier history, Alaska is a popular destination for vacations on land or sea.
An Alaska vacation can include travel aboard the legendary Alaska Railroad. In 1903 the privately-owned Alaska Central Railway began construction of the rail line in Seward extending 50 miles north. Today the Alaska Railroad stretches 470 miles north to Fairbanks via Denali National Park. The railroad was the catalyst for the tourism boom in the National Park. Everything that came in and out of the park was by train until the Parks Highway was completed in 1971.
Alaska cruises are also available.
