Travel from Toronto past shimmering lakes and towering forests, and across the "big sky" prairies for three nights. A stop in Jasper, nestled in the Canadian Rockies, is a delightful experience you will remember forever. Continue your journey with one more overnight rail travel through majestic mountains to Vancouver and the sparkling Pacific Ocean.
Spend the first leg of your trip getting to know Toronto as you have free time to explore this bustling city on your own. Settle into your luxury accommodations as VIA Rail's Canadian heads through the beautiful scenery of the Canadian Shield. Enjoy the rugged landscape that has been created through the work of glaciers and meteor craters. Keep your eye out for wildlife roaming this picturesque area.
As you continue your journey west, the Canadian Rockies greet you as they arise form the horizon. You'll then have three nights to explore the alpine town of Jasper on your own. Participate in winter sports like ice skating or dog sledding, tour the frozen rivers and waterfalls of Maligne Canyon, or explore the amazing Jasper National Park.
Onboard the train once again, you'll wind through the rest of the Canadian Rockies on your way to the oceanside city of Vancouver. You have a full day to explore this town, including a Hop On/Hop Off bus tour that will take you to the area's best sights.
This package spends one night in Toronto and Vancouver, however, should you choose to stay additional days in either city the necessary arrangements can be made for you.

Day 1 - Arrive Toronto
Welcome to Toronto, the starting point for your rail journey across Canada.Transfer to your hotel, check in, and begin to explore this exciting city. Overnight Toronto.
Day 2 - Toronto Sightseeing/VIA Rail Toronto to Jasper
With VIA Rail's schedule, you have all day to enjoy this cosmopolitan city. Using your Toronto CityPass, visit the city's most popular attractions including CN Tower, the Royal Ontario Museum, Casa Loma, the Ontario Science Centre and the Toronto Zoo. This evening dine at one of Toronto's more than 7,000 restaurants that reflect tastes, cultures and ingredients from around the world. From upscale to down home, you'll find dining experiences and culinary adventures to satisfy every taste.
The train is scheduled to depart at 10:00pm. Plan to be at the rail station one hour prior to boarding. VIA Rail has a special check in area for Sleeper Plus passengers. Here you can present your tickets to the VIA staff and check the luggage that you want to travel in the baggage compartment.
Nothing shows you Canada like a trip on the train. Your bedroom is VIA Rail's "top of the line" accommodations. Your sitting room by day converts to upper and lower berths at night. Once aboard the train, the staff will see that you are settled into your room. As a Sleeper Plus passenger, your fare includes all meals, use of any of the lounges and access to the domed skyline care for spectacular viewing. The VIA Rail staff will brief you on the dining schedule. Seating in the domed skyline cars is on a first come, first served basis. Hot tea and coffee is available in the lounge area throughout the day and evening. Overnight train. (D)
Days 3, 4 - VIA Enroute to Jasper
As you travel east to west, you will travel through five of Canada's Provinces. Starting in Canada's largest city, Toronto, the train heads north through the Canadian Shield. This region of billion-year-old rock lies between the Great Lakes and Hudson Bay. Here, ancient glaciers scoured thousands of lakes, clean-bottomed and filled them with remarkably clear water. On their rocky shores, outcroppings of granite, pink, grey, and black for rounded boulders that breathtakingly tower over the tracks. As you pass through this area of forests, lakes, and streams it is not unusual to see bear or moose. As the train crosses into Manitoba, you enter a land of forests and lakes. Many of the 200 lakes were formed by meteor craters. This wealth of trees and water made Winnipeg, located at the junction of the Red, Assiniboine, and Seine Rivers the capitol of Canada's fur trade. Saskatchewan shows you the unique beauty of the prairie lands. Overnight train. (2B, 2L, 2D)
Day 5 - Arrive Jasper
Cross into Alberta heading towards Edmonton, home of the world famous West Edmonton Mall. Midway between Edmonton and Jasper you have your first view of the Rockies and the promise of what is yet to come. The staff of the Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge will meet you at the train station and transfer you to the Lodge. The Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge is wilderness luxury at its finest. Overnight Jasper. Day 6 - Jasper
You are at leisure to enjoy the Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge, or venture out and skate on Lac Beauvert, cross country ski, go dog sledding, or visit some of the town's local establishments. Overnight Jasper.
Day 7 - Jasper at Leisure
Today brings another full day to explore Jasper. You may wish to embark on a guided excursion to Maligne Canyon to see rivers and waterfalls frozen in time. The delicate frozen cascades of Angel Falls and the Queen are a spectacular sight not to be missed! Overnight Jasper.
Day 8 - Jasper to Vancouver
You have the morning to relax and enjoy the beauty of Jasper. Your train departs this afternoon and the Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge will take you to the station. Your VIA Rail attendant will see that you are settled into your room for your continuation of your trip overnight by train to Vancouver. This is an excellent time to get a seat in the domed viewing car. The scenery out of Jasper is breathtaking as you continue through what is considered the jewel in the crown of this wonderful rail trip, the Canadian Rockies. As you continue west the train crosses into British Columbia and the Rockies give way to fertile fields and eventually to the Pacific Ocean where Vancouver is perched. Overnight train. (D)
Day 9 - Arrive Vancouver
Arrive in Vancouver, Canada's third largest city, a little after 9:30 am. Transfer by taxi (included) to your centrally-located hotel. Spend the day exploring this coastal city through a Hop On/Hop Off bus tour-the perfect way to see the city's most important sights. Must-see attractions include Stanley Park, the Vancouver Aquarium, English Bay Beach, Granville Island, Chinatown, the UBC Museum of Anthropology, and the Robson Street shopping district. Stroll the cobbled streets of Gastown, view some of the Olympic sites, and dine in one of the city's amazing restaurants this evening. Overnight Vancouver. (B)
Day 10 - Depart Vancouver
Transfer on your own to the airport.

Train and Hotel Accommodations
Hotels include the Fairmont Royal York, Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge, and the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver (or similar). VIA Rail accommodations are in Sleeper Plus class in a private cabin. Meals are included aboard the train along with exclusive access to lounges and observation cars.
