Travel on your own following a well-planned itinerary

2024 Tour code: PR-BORR-24

About the tour

The majesty of the Canadian Rockies awaits on this round-trip tour through western Canada. Begin in the coastal city of Vancouver before you board the first train of your tour, Rocky Mountaineer, early the next morning for the journey to Kamloops. After an overnight, take in more Rocky Mountain scenery on the way to the famed resort town of Banff, where you enjoy both guided touring and free time to explore.

From Banff, enjoy a scenic transfer to the hamlet of Lake Louise, where the juxtaposition of the clear, turquoise waters of this famous lake and the looming Victoria Glacier is nothing short of striking. Next, journey along the Icefield Parkway to Jasper, stopping en route to explore the glaciers at the Columbia Icefield. Spend time sightseeing on your own in Jasper before boarding VIA Rail's Canadian for the overnight rail journey back to Vancouver, where your vacation comes to an end.

The scenery was fabulous and the Gold Leaf Package was perfect. Great Food and Great Hotels in Banff and Lake Louise. The Rocky Mountaineer train was excellent but the return trip from Jasper on Canadian VIA Rail was only OK. The food and accommodation were a step down and we had a number of rail delays due to freight trains which have priority. Arrived back in Vancouver 5 hours late.

fantastic all around - one caveat - the Rocky Mountaineer is completely luxurious but I am not the right personality to sit in a chair for two days regardless of the luxury of the chair The Brewster excursions were perfect, the guide were great and the VIA Rail sleep over cabin was a train lovers dream vacation

Promised a vacation on rails but ….. instead it became the very definition of incompetence. The trip was plagued with cancellations and delays due to fires in Canada ,however, Vacation by Rail provided almost zero communications between guest and management. Two days before the the trip ended we were informed by text to find our way back to Vancouver, Canada, from Jasper, Canada. This was one of numerous mistakes we endured on our way. Hung out to dry to say the least, buyer beware.

We did not get to go on the Best of the Rockies - Superior trip which was to start on August 21, 2023 because the trip was canceled. It has been over 2 weeks since then and even though we were told by phone that we would receive a full refund within 2-3 business days, WE HAVE NOT RECEIVED OUR REFUND and WE HAVE NOT RECEIVED ANYTHING FROM Vacations by Rail with regards to the $13,208 that we paid them. SOUNDS LIKE A RIP-OFF TO ME !!!!!!!

from Vacations By Rail
We apologize for the tour cancellation due to the wildfires. We will have someone from our travel services team reaching out to you shortly about next steps.
I would prefer that they do so by email please
