We really enjoyed our trip it was our 1st on a train so we got to know what we liked and don't like. Food on train was fantastic, met a lot of new people. 1st time on a guided motorcoach tour and we really enjoyed it, made it really nice for my husband as he normally does most of the driving he actually got to sit back and enjoy the sites. Would recommend this to my friends and family. Looking for our next vacation. Our motorcoach guide was wonderful, full of places to see and her knowledge of the area was great.

Although food was excellent, train was mediocre. Just as glad we had less than 24hours on the train. Hotel in Lake Louise was not handicap accessible and services were minimal. All other hotels and bus trips were wonderful and had enough time to sightsee. I realize we were the last tour of the season, but the brochure description had a day trip excursion that ended up not on our vouchers because it was not running. We were left on our own to find something to do that day. When another passenger called the offices, they were met with little concern and no apologies. That left a bad taste in many of our mouths. Otherwise, Canada speaks for itself and was beautiful. You just need to make a few tweeks.

Lovely hotel accommodations, but thought the title , "Canadian Rockies By Rail" is misleading since only one day/night was by train, and the rest was by motor coach. Also, the VIA Canadien train left a lot to be desired.

Communication was lacking. They take no responsibility for the subcontractors they work with, and put the burden on the customer to confirm what was promised is delivered. Bus transportation from one town to the next was canceled! Would not use this company again

We had a wonderful trip but we did have issues with Vacations by Rail. 1. We did not receive our trip documents detailing arrival and departure times in each city until 7 days before our departure date. This made it difficult to make reservations and arrangements for what we wanted to do in each town. Not having this information caused a lot of stress and really put a damper on our excitement leading up to the trip. We had no idea when our documents would finally arrive. 2. Their website and all printed materials indicated that a three hour tour in Banff was included in this package. There was no “fine print” disclaimer anywhere. After receiving our documents we realized that the three hour tour was not included in our package. When we called to inquire, we were told that it was not included because it was towards the end of the season. There was no mention made of this when we booked our package. This felt like false advertising. 3. The pick up time for the Icefields Discovery Tour was wrong. The pick up times for lake Louise and Banff indicated that we should call Brewster transportation the night before to confirm pick up times but this was not indicated for the Icefields. We called Brewster just to be on the safe side and found that the pickup time was completely different than what we was indicated on our documents. Others in our group did not know this and it caused delays and frustration. We usually book our own travel arrangements directly by ourselves. This is the first time that we have taken a group tour and expected that the details would be taken care of by Vacations by Rail but this was not the case. Communication was lacking and multiple emails were never acknowledged. Brewster transportation did a phenomenal job. If we had just been told ahead of time that they make multiple pick ups at various hotels in each town and those schedules won’t be solidified until the day before, that would’ve helped. A call or text from Vacations by Rail or Brewster confirming the correct time each evening would’ve been even better. The Fairmont hotel upgrade was worth every penny. We thoroughly enjoyed each hotel!
