This was a wonderful, once in a lifetime trip that we took to celebrate our 65th anniversary. I would recommend it to anyone ! Beautiful scenery, wonderful staff on the train and food selections that were top class.

The crew for the first 3 days were incredible... especially Martin, Madison, and Silvie. The crew that replaced them was awful, especially the dining car crew. Wrong orders, wrong menus, forgotten requests... We heard that the 2nd crew were all trainees. If that's true, wouldn't it make more sense to pair them with experienced staff? Also: no WIFI service. If I can get it on a plane, why not on a train?

The trip was exactly what I had hoped for. The only real negative was not VIA Canada’s fault - a freight train derailed leading to us having a bus bridge from Jasper to Edmonton - a REALLY LONG bus ride. The staff was absolutely wonderful through all of the real world issues and noted that delays were built in to the overall schedule - though initially we lost 22 hours, we actually pulled into Toronto a couple of hours EARLY. Food was great and the people we met at the dining car tables were mostly really friendly and interesting. We are quite pleased that we made this interesting journey.
