Jasper National Park
Nestled in the Canadian Rockies' forested landscapes, Jasper
National Park is a haven of hot springs, tumbling waterfalls and
mighty glaciers. Spot wildlife ranging from grizzly bears and
mountain lions to elk and moose, and soak up scenic vistas at every
turn. While a world away in the wilderness, this UNESCO-listed
parkland is easily accessible by train - both VIA Rail and Rocky Mountaineer station
here - making it an exceptional destination on any Canadian rail
itinerary.
Jasper is wrapped in superlatives. It is the largest national
park in the Canadian Rockies,
and it is home to the country's highest and longest aerial tramway,
the Jasper SkyTram. Jasper and Banff share the largest ice field in
the Rocky Mountains, and a visit to the Columbia Icefield is a
highlight of any vacation. But this is just one point of interest.
See Maligne Lake and its spectacular Spirit Island, Maligne Canyon,
and Athabasca Falls. An area of pristine wilderness and a
designated Dark Sky Preserve, this vast protected land is truly
incredible.
