This 9-day escorted tour takes you through southern Alaska's greatest spots and most breathtaking sights. You'll visit Denali National Park, cruise rivers, and fjords, and learn about the area's history.
Ride the Coastal Classic to Seward, traveling alongside the Turnagain Arm waterway. Then it's off to Exit Glacier for a hike where you'll have amazing views and learn how glaciers shape our landscape. Next, cruise through Kenai Fjords National Park and watch a calving tidewater glacier in action.
On your way north from Seward, you'll make a stop for a scenic aerial tram ride. Travel to the top of Mt. Alyeska where you'll find panoramic views of Turnagain Arm's changing tides, the Chugach Mountain range and seven hanging glaciers.
Enjoy a jetboat tour and visit to Dena'ina Indian Encampment before you embark on a relaxing train ride from Talkeetna to Denali via the Denali Star. Here you will partake in the Denali Backcountry Adventure to view hidden gems of Denali National Park, as you head 92 miles into remote wilderness. You can try your hand at gold panning in Moose creek or embark on a naturalist-led botanist tour.
Next, enjoy a relaxing free day before your Denali Star Gold Class to Fairbanks, which includes a special dining experience on the train. Then your final day is packed with a riverboat excursion and a personalized visit to the Trail Breaker Kennel. Here you'll have an intimate experience with animals and talk about life as a musher and details of an Iditarod sled race.

Day 1 – Arrive Anchorage
Settle into your Anchorage hotel and receive a warm welcome from your tour manager who will lead you on this 9-day escorted tour. Overnight Anchorage. (D)
Day 2 – Alaska Railroad Coastal Classic to Seward
Embark on the train as you head south to Seward. Arrive in Seward with free time to explore the area and enjoy lunch. Our motorcoach takes you to Exit Glacier, where you will have an afternoon hike that provides amazing views. Learn about glaciers and how they shape a landscape on this ranger-led walk. Overnight Seward.
Day 3 – Kenai Fjords National Park Cruise
Explore glaciers and wildlife as you board the Glacier Express for a cruise into Kenai Fjords National Park. You'll ride on a catamaran, which provides a chance to get closer to active glaciers. A National Park Ranger joins you on this narrated tour where you can learn about the area's history. View an actively calving tidewater glacier and be on the lookout for whales! Overnight Seward. Day 4 – Turnagain Arm, Mt. Alyeska & Talkeetna
Enjoy the beautiful scenery below as you take an aerial scenic tram to the top of Mt. Alyeska, at 2,300 feet elevation. Here, relax and enjoy stunning views as you spot hanging glaciers and take in the view of Turnagain Arm and the valleys of the Chugach Mountain range. Lunch is provided so you can relax while soaking in this scenic background. Your motorcoach will then take you to Talkeetna, where you can shop or stroll in this rustic, quaint town. Day 5 – Denali Star
In the morning, enjoy a two-hour jetboat tour that navigates the Talkeetna, Chulitna and Susitna rivers, taking you deep into wilderness. As the Naturalist on your tour discusses Denali and its history, keep an eye out for bald eagles. There's even time for a nature walk and visit to a Dena'ina Indian Encampment. Then board the Denali Star for an afternoon journey through Alaskan scenery. Cross the arched Hurricane Gulch Bridge and enjoy views of the Alaska Range as you approach Denali. Overnight Denali. (B)
Day 6 – Denali Backcountry Adventure
Explore the deep wilderness on a 13-hour Denali Backcountry Adventure and experience the chance to see roaming wildlife in their natural habitats. This tour lets you experience 50% more of the national park than basic tours, and provides once-in-a-lifetime memories. You'll have unique views of tundra, mountains, and rivers that can only be glimpsed as you ride the single stretch of road 92 miles into Denali National Park. Day 7 – Denali Star to Fairbanks
Enjoy a morning at leisure to explore Denali independently. The hotel activity desk can direct you to float trips, hikes and National Park activities you can participate in on your own. Then embark on a late afternoon trip in Gold Star class aboard the Denali Star to Fairbanks. Savor a three-course meal and enjoy the view as you follow the Nenana River. Overnight Fairbanks. (D)
Day 8 – Riverboat Discovery & Trail Breaker Kennel
Experience a 3-hour riverboat tour as you explore the Chena and Tanana Rivers. Learn about the culture and history of the area on this narrated tour. Spot wildlife and watch a bush plane take off from the river. Alaskan Native Guides then provide a tour of the Chena Indian Village.
End your trip to this great land with an exclusive private dinner and mushing demonstration at this famous family training site, where you can get up close and personal with the dogs. This private, small-group experience at Trail Breaker Kennel is a unique highlight to top off your tour. Overnight Fairbanks. (B,D)
Day 9 – Departure
Your tour comes to an end this morning. Depart at your leisure for Fairbanks International Airport for your return trip home.

Coastal Classic Train
The Coastal Classic train is a local favorite that winds through the stretch of wilderness between Anchorage and Seward. A string of massive glaciers visible from the track enriches the journey. This train travels to the shores of Resurrection Bay for whale watching, sea kayaking, tidewater glacier viewing, fishing, and dog sled rides.
Denali Star Train
The Denali Star, the Alaska Railroad's flagship train, links Anchorage to Fairbanks with stops in Wasilla, Talkeetna and Denali Park. On this route, sparkling salmon streams and stands of birch and spruce come into view, while carpets of fireweed add dramatic purple to the landscape.
