Itinerary

Day 1 - Arrive in Chicago

Arrive in Chicago and begin exploring this beautiful independently. Your centrally-located hotel provides convenient access to exciting landmarks such as the famed Magnificent Mile, Millennium Park, the Art Institute and so much more. Overnight Chicago. 

Day 2 - Chicago Architecture Cruise

Chicago is brimming with architectural gems, and there is no better way to see these impressive buildings and learn their history than on an architectural river cruise. Your 90-minute tour offers unobstructed views of the city's top attractions while learning about the inspiration, design, and history of some of the city's landmark buildings.

The remainder of the day is free to explore Chicago as you like. Consider visiting one of the city's premier museums dedicated to art, science, space, or marine life; shop along Michigan Avenue; or travel to the top of Willis Tower for a birds' eye view of the city and its suburbs. Day 3 - Memphis

Arrive into Memphis early this morning. Drop your bags at your hotel and get ready for a full day of exploration. Your morning sightseeing begins on Beale Street, voted the most iconic street in America by USA Today. Beale Street runs from the Mississippi River to East Street, nearly two miles of blues clubs and restaurants that make it one of the top tourist attractions in Memphis. Drive through Victorian Village, a historic neighborhood with homes that were built in the 1800s. Pass by the statues of B.B. King and Elvis Presley as well as the National Civil Rights Museum at the Lorraine Hotel, where Martin Luther King, Jr. was assassinated. Stop at A. Schwab, a Memphis institution that sells all things Memphis-from regional arts and crafts, to dry goods, magic potions, candies, books, magazines and more-and the Peabody Memphis, a landmark, 13-story downtown hotel.

Stop at Sun Studio, where Elvis Pressley recorded his first song. Hear the voices of musicians that still haunt this studio, as you listen to outtakes from recording sessions and feel the energy of the music created here.

After your city tour, enjoy views of Memphis from a new vantage point on a leisurely cruise along the Mississippi River. The rest of the day is at leisure to explore Memphis independently. Overnight Memphis.

Day 4 - Journey from Memphis to New Orleans

Board the City of New Orleans this morning and spend the day enjoying the scenery of the South. The train arrives in The Big Easy mid-afternoon and you have the rest of the day to listen to jazz music, taste traditional Cajun food and explore the city. Overnight New Orleans.

Day 5 - Explore New Orleans

Visit Jackson Square, the Arts District and over 15 other popular sites aboard a double-decker bus on the fifth day of this cross-country experience. The Hop-on Hop-off Tour in New Orleans allows passengers to spend as much or as little time as they desire at the destinations; however, a continuous 2-hour tour is also an option. Included with your Hop-on Hop-off pass is your choice of several walking tours, to be used at your leisure. Overnight New Orleans. 

Day 6 - New Orleans at Leisure

Spend your final day in New Orleans revisiting sights from yesterday's tour or continue the use of your Hop-on Hop-off pass and walking tours as you please. Have you had enough to eat? Indulge in all the delicacies of the Big Easy; from Cajun and Creole favorites, to muffulettas, po' boys, and crawfish, this city is a food lover's dream. Top it off with a trip to Café du Monde for their world-famous beignets. Overnight New Orleans.

Days 7 & 8 - Sunset Limited to Los Angeles

Aboard the Sunset Limited, travelers get a view of the southernmost part of the United States while en route to Los Angeles. The train departs this morning, and scenery along the way includes Bayou country, the Mexican border and even deserts and mountain ranges. The Sunset Limited's Sightseer Lounge Car provides the best view of the colorful landscape. Overnight train. 

Day 9 - Arrive in Los Angeles

Arrival in Los Angeles early this morning. If your room is available, guests are free to check into their hotel at this point or to start their exploration. Some of the most popular sites in the Los Angeles region include the Hollywood Walk of Fame, Rodeo Drive, Griffith Observatory, Six Flags and numerous museums. Overnight Los Angeles.

Day 10 – Explore Los Angeles

Get acquainted with Los Angeles on today's sightseeing tour. See all of the city's popular sights as you travel from downtown LA to Hollywood, the Sunset Strip, Rodeo Drive, and Beverly Hills. Overnight Los Angeles.

Day 11 - Return Home

Your vacation concludes this morning.
